This is an interesting bit from down under regarding the use of the IAI Heron UAV, leased by MDA and rented by the Australians. I very much enjoyed working with the Aussies in KAF.  A professional bunch.  While they were whinging a bit on the civilian portion, I can assure you they didn't complain of the Canadian Technicians maintaining the aircraft.

RAAF 5 Flight is my current unit, and I can assure you that the Canadian UAV guys were whinging about exactly the same issues regarding the training back when we flew the Heron.  It's inflated a bit by the media but the working relationship between MDA and the RAAF is very good, especially on the tech/maintainer side of the house.
