Some have heard of the Memorial Chamber in Ottawa - but when I ask around all I get is ???

So here it is - if you`re coming in for the War Museum be sure and try and take it in.

In case you can`t - here is the link to the Site http://www.parl.gc.ca/memorial/main-e.htm and the dailiy turning of the page ceremony at the next link http://www.parl.gc.ca/memorial/video/ceremony.wmv

Enjoy!

I have been to the war museum and it was an excellent experience. The whole museum makes you very proud to be Canadian, and it reminds you of the ultimate sacrifice that was made so we could all live freely. The museum is a must see if you are in Ottawa.

To clarify, the Memorial Chamber is in the Centre Block of the Parliament buildings, near the Peace Tower.

The chamber, the peacekeeping monument, the War Memorial, and the War Museum are all in the same general area of Ottawa and, in my opinion, are all worth seeing.

Make sure you give yourself a lot of time to do so though. Five hours at the War Museum passed like nothing and I still didn't spend as much time there as I wanted.

I grew up in Ottawa and the Memorial Chamber is located in the Peace Tower of Parliament Hill.  The book of Remembrance sits under glass on a pedestal.  A page is turned every day until the end of the book and then the next book is opened.  This tradition began after WWI. I believe there are now five books  covering all the fallen soldiers since the First World War.  I recently read an article online (CBC News) that a new book has been started to honour the fallen soldiers of the Afghanistan war.

We spent three hours at the War Museum and will have to take another vacation to Ottawa to see the rest, including the Memorial Chamber.

Both of these areas are worth seeing IMO.

I looked at the web site just now for the Memorial Chamber. It looks like a fitting and noble place to remember so many braves service members. I hope to visit it in person some day.
