As long as I can remember there were two things in my life that I wanted to do. One; fly aircraft and Two; become a member of the CF. My first goal has been accomplished through Cadets and in September I began the process of enrollment into the CF. I'll skip all the details in between but as it stands right now I am eligible for Civilian University entrance for ROTP and managed to pass the CFAT, be recommended for all three of my trade choices and I think passed the medical. To tell you the honest truth I don't know if I am eligible for pilot as he did not tell me if I did one way or another, but I am assuming that I didn't fail the eye test as they are sending me for the cyclopegic refraction test and the bloodwork. Hopefully this all works out

not sure how much this might help you or not, because I'm not sure what stage you're at.
Anyway...
While going for a check ride in North Bay to rent a plane, the fellow that took me for the check ride told me about his being accepted for the CF and it sounds like he was pretty much in the same situation as you've described (which if I'm reading it right is you have possibly a private pilots licence through the Air Cadets?)
he said that during the selection process it was a good thing he had some previous instrument flying experience because one part of the test he did (in T.O. IIRC) was a VOR hold before given a clearance for an approach. This being done in a simulator.
The up shot of the advice is practice a bit more on your instrument scan techniques, and having previous flying experience will definitely help a lot I suspect.
Hopefully there will be more knowledgeable people tracking this thread that can give you more accurate advice.
Good luck.

It is not like that anymore. It is classified as a 'training aid' and not a simulator because of the way it behaves (not exactly like an airplane. It is also in Trenton now, and you do not do VOR holds or approaches. You just fly the basic '6 pack' a lot (turns, climbs, descents, combinations...etc). As for whether or not past experience helps, well I have yet to find any conclusive data that correlates the two. Probably can't hurt but plenty of people pass with out flying experience. Search 'ACS' if you have more questions about it.

To the OP: Follow your dream. Go for it! As for the eye test, well make sure you go the washroom first, when I went to the specialist I had to sit in that chair for 2hrs getting all sorts of tests and drops put in my eyes...FUN!!!!! ;D.

Best of luck to you.

Good luck BD! Stay cool, search on CAPSS within the site and you'll be fine.

Too add to Old man's post, bring some shades to wear for after the eye exam. (even on a gloomy day) I remember the doctor opening the door, turning on the lights and then telling me to "Be careful, the lights may seem bright".  ;D

Eye test and blood test done, apparently I passed the eye test. We should know in January if my medical passes!
