The Driver probably got delayed somewhere (insert your own lame excuse here), and the load was reported as MIA.

Hence why we should have Military pers transporting Military gear.

What i dont get is why military personell, gear, in this case vehicles make the public so nervous, sorta the same thing happened not too long ago with that soldier found walking around with a dummy gun (i believe) on the highway in T.O.  In kingston things like that would be just shrugged of because of the nearby base. The public needs to understand the military has a presence in Canada. "Two armoured carriers capable of shooting rockets"...??? so...duh thats why they are marked DND and hmmm maybe there a part of the military...oh right lets call the cops.

The media is correcting its reports.  There were no missiles, just missile launchers.  (It is still saying anti-aircraft missile launchers, but if the APCs were PPCLI then I suspect TUA).

The photo shows TUA.

I always amazed at the sheer number of factual errors the media makes in reporting. Makes me wonder how many other articles I read are laced with mistakes.

I'll continue to get my news from The Daily Show  ;)

'It was just a matter of confusion,' police spokesman explains

I often wonder the same thing.

Remember during a recent election campaign when the Liberals showed an aircraft carrier and claimed that it was the sort of ship the Tories were pushing for?  There was next to nothing in the way of media attention at what was, simply, a lie.  I used to read various newspapers every day and it borders on absurd how the same story can be so widely misrepresented.  It can't do much to advance the cause of an informed electorate.  I do understand that most media have some sort of editorial "spin", but the amount of out and out dishonesty is getting pretty bad

My rough estimate is that about 30-50% of the "facts" in any Canadian media article about the military will be wrong. And, I agree...it does really make you wonder about the rest of the reportage.

Cheers

The Civi driver was probably just tryiing to milk a few more days of pay out of the military. If that was the case, then good on the guys on the other end for calling the cops!

Is it just me or does anyone else find this ISA thing rather disturbing and Timothy McVeigh ish (see Haggis's link in above post))

I wonder why he was heading west in TO when he was suppose to be in Quebec. All kinda fishy if you ask me. No we wont find out why actually happened.

As for getting tow missiles and other weapons. Not to hard to get if you got the right amount of cash and contacts.

Cheers

Um.... I wonder was that a DND name I saw scratched out and CDR (Canadian Defense Regiment) scratched on in crayon?

Hi,

One thing about the media that drives me bonkers is the wrong abrieviations they use for our rank system (ie Lt not Lieut.).  Is it too hard to use the proper ones, as found on the DND website?
