Ukraine - Superthread

Would like to hear how many and when is meant by "more". If it takes the total up to 16 within 10 weeks, that would be great.

Way too late than it ever should've been, but at least it's finally a full squadron.

And again, there is no point to a Canadian Army that does not contribute to foreign wars. The US would never let a foreign country invade us, and we could never repel a US invasion. Our whole purpose is to contribute to global security, democracy, and freedom.

Whether our tanks are manned by Canadians or Ukrainians changes nothing.

Canada First is only relevant for the Naval and Air domains.

Canada announces $650m in aid - good international relations. Promises include armoured vehicles from GDLS in London, and flight and aircraft maintenance trainers, presumably from CAE in Montreal - good domestic politics.

This is the best quote - “During the Great Patriotic War, no one asked questions. Women, children and old people worked.”

That’s because if you asked questions you got a knock on the door at 3am and found yourself in a boxcar to Kolyma digging gold in -30c weather or standing at the edge of a 2m deep pit in a dark forest with you arms tied behind your back with wire and the last thing you felt was cold steel against the back of your head just below your right ear.

It makes me wonder if the Lib gov't will ever get around to replacing the tanks, wpns, and material that were donated directly from the CAF's stocks, to UKR. Not that the Lib gov't ever cared or understood about the CAF/national security, except for when it was used to enhanced PM Trudeau's stature on the global stage.

Note: As a cynic, you can substitute Lib gov't with CPC gov't and PM Trudeau to whoever will be in power next. Perhaps it will be Mr. Poilievere, who will cry the "cupboard's bare" because of the reckless Lib's spendthrift manner and he will commence with another series of fiscal cuts to balance the budget.

A non zero number of donated items are not currently in production.

And others where production lines are open have significant waiting times due to demand.

To be fair (and this is just my theory) is that part of the LPC's plan has been to leave as much damage as possible, so the next government will have to make fiscal cuts & spend most of its energy on fixing the things the current government has broken.

(Passports being a good example. There was no reason to change the passport, none at all. But they did. So that's just one more thing the next government will have to spend some time and money to fix - because Terry Fox has an infinitely more deserving place on our passport than JT)

REGARDLESS of who is the next PM, I imagine most of their first term will be spent fixing what JT has broken.

So... No change really.
