Ukraine - Superthread

how else to account for the bent prop? Perhaps a bird strike?
Two of the blades are bent in different directions. No bird would do that.

Then of course the Russians gave medals to the pilots that downed it.

According to Oryx Ukraine has lost

18 Mig-29
15 Su-24
16 Su-25
8 Su-27

and Ukraine started with around

43 Mig-29
12 Su-24
17 Su-25
27 Su-27

leaving Ukraine with

25 Mig-29
-3 Su-24
1 Su-25
21 Su-27

Bulgaria was rumoured to have transferred 8 Su-25 but I think have denied that and there were around half a dozen Azerbaijani Mig-29s in Ukraine at the start of the war that one wonders about plus the various "parts and supplies". In the end I am curious how many flyable aircraft Ukraine actually has and how amazing that they are still in the game

add 33 Mig-29's 20 from Poland and 13 from Slovakia to Ukraines

I feel sorry for the pilots involved in this ...I mean think about this .I suspect just about everybody in the Russian Air Force knows the real story .
They couldn't avoid hitting a relatively slow drone traveling in basically a straight line.....and got medals for it.
Would you take them seriously?

Here's the text from the ICC

One legal beagle's take on the alleged war crimes being probed ....

For anyone interested, here are the elements of the two offences Putin is indicted for; one war crime, one crime against humanity, both similar in nature:

Article 8 (2) (a) (vii)-1
War crime of unlawful deportation and transfer
Elements
1. The perpetrator deported or transferred one or more persons to another State or to another location.
2. Such person or persons were protected under one or more of the Geneva Conventions of 1949.
3. The perpetrator was aware of the factual circumstances that established that protected status.
4. The conduct took place in the context of and was associated with an international armed conflict.
5. The perpetrator was aware of factual circumstances that established the existence of an armed conflict.

Article 8 (2) (b) (viii)
The transfer, directly or indirectly, by the Occupying Power of parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies, or the deportation or transfer of all or parts of the population of the occupied territory within or outside this territory
Elements
1. The perpetrator:
(a) Transferred,44 directly or indirectly, parts of its own population into the territory it occupies; or
(b) Deported or transferred all or parts of the population of the occupied territory within or outside this territory.
2. The conduct took place in the context of and was associated with an international armed conflict.
3. The perpetrator was aware of factual circumstances that established the existence of an armed conflict.

Both are offences under the Rome Statute of the ICC, which Ukraine has granted jurisdiction to. The offence definitions are form the ICC’s (very helpful) guide “elements of crimes”, which is a compendium of most crimes against humanity and war crimes.
