On February 1, 1968, the Canadian Forces Reorganization Act took effect, amalgamating the Canadian Army, the Royal Canadian Navy and the Royal Canadian Air Force to form the Canadian Forces (the CF) as we know it today. Maritime Command (MARCOM) is the descendant of The Royal Canadian Navy (RCN).
