Simon Logan v. Her Majesty The Queen

I don't have easy access to my release papers right now, but I remember my last pay from the CAF had PLD, the first pay from SISIP Manulife the month after didn't. Along with the other pay hit. There is a chance I'm misrembering as this was 8 years ago now and I have trouble remember what I...

Simon Logan v. Her Majesty The Queen

Yeah in my situation I was on SISIP for 2 years and then I switched back to VAC IRB which eventually became DEC. I did receive PLD on my last pay before SISIP took over. I went into this thinking if i got something nice, if not ah well. But good advice for people not to bank on it...

Simon Logan v. Her Majesty The Queen

Yeah good to point this out, will clear up confusion by some people. I personally don't expect much, if any at all, because I was only in receipt of PLD on release, since I was attached to a shore office for my ship I had no sea pay.

Simon Logan v. Her Majesty The Queen

Interesting, would be good to see how they break it down. But if this ends up not paying out PLD, it's going to be a huge disappointment to a lot of people. Were you in a receipt of PLD on retirement?

    Any Ex Pat members here?

Thanks, some good info there. I knew a little bit about the withholding tax. It's not so much I want to avoid paying taxes(not against that) but the risk of double taxation (very against that). Maybe some of the questions are more apt for a accountant who specializes in those things. AFAIK...

    Any Ex Pat members here?

I'm curious if we have any Ex Pat members on this forum. MY plan later in life is to retire to somewhere warmer in Asia most likely. Somewhere where our dollar goes much further and not having to deal with our winters anymore. I'm just curious if its hard to transfer our pensions and...

    Medical release vs retention?

While at first glance this sounds reasonable. It can actually end up hurting trades more than it helps. A lot of these office/shore/non deploying type positions are also used to help prevent burnout. If they allowed people who couldn't deploy to hold down the non deploying positions it means...

Yeah I'm sure it's a proper cluster fuck to sort out. No two files are the same.

Miscalculations of Disability Pensions Class Action - Manuge vs. His Majesty the King.

There was one proposed In the early stages, unsure where it is now but these things move slow. I suffer from constant lung issues and was contacted from a lawyer August 2020. They were looking for Class members to start the suit. Unfortunately I wasn't able to secure a medical diagnosis...

    Hamas invaded Israel 2023

My first memory of fire fighter training (before I joined the Forces): 'Fireman's Carry don't work too well when you have your tank on' Since you are most likely to have the tank on when you see a casualty that needs to be evacuated. Why is it called a fireman's carry?

90+ last I checked. That's a whole lot of 'reach out and touch someone'.

They missed their chance to have a Susan Sarandon narration.

    Hamas invaded Israel 2023

I hear Mr. Negligent Discharge Murder is facing another grand jury to decide if to go forward with charges again.

    Hamas invaded Israel 2023

I'd pay big money to see Sarandon pitted against a starving lion.
