    Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

If I understand that correctly, because the town of Bauline is in the St. John's CMA, it's population gets counted as urbanites? Bauline... population 412... ?

    Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

These are distinctions without a difference. To pretend otherwise is to deliberately be obtuse because it suits a partisan agenda. Income taxes and consumption taxes that are tied directly to the economic productivity of a province made up 89%+ of federal government revenues in the 2024 fiscal...

    Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

I don't really think the Carleton riding result is indicative of anything to do with PP. As mentioned by Kory Teneycke, that whole area went red in the provincial election as well. Part of the swing probably has more do with the re-drawing of the electoral boundaries, the geographic area voting...

    2025 Federal Election - 28 Apr 25

You can put as much as you want in a TFSA or RRSP - you'll just start getting taxed heavier on it after you exceed the limits, to the point that it's usually not worth it (there are cases where overcontributions were made deliberately because it made tax sense). They can legislate to tax the...

    2025 Federal Election - 28 Apr 25

Define "control" ? The Canadian government certainly can't tell them what to do, but it does control it's own Income Tax Act, can require any reporting it wants, can tax anything it wants, has essentially unlimited ability to audit anything, question anybody, etc. [and they can force you to...

    2025 Federal Election - 28 Apr 25

An annual maximum, sure... can the median income Canadian at than $43,000/year (in 2022) afford to put anything into a TFSA? Probably not. What about an RRSP? Also probably not. And yet no one is complaining that the wealthier 50% of individuals who contribute to those in order to avoid tax are...

    2025 Federal Election - 28 Apr 25

It's tax avoidance, which is legal.... You know what else is tax avoidance? Putting money into a TFSA. Putting money into an RRSP. All allowable loopholes which are not available to corporations.

    Liberal Minority Government 2021 - 2025

"And then, yes… he said that tariffs would result in Canada collapsing, and I think that was the wrong message to convey because it made us sound very, very weak." I think she's bang-on here.... this error has had a domino effect.... I don't really see anything in that interview that is going...

Return of NDI 75: Veteran Service Card [Merged]

The one useful thing with the Vet ID card is the Trusted Travellers line, which a CFOne card doesn't help with... having lost mine, I applied for a replacement card back in October, still haven't received the new one. I even uploaded the Certificate of Service or whatever it is that they said...

Trudeau Popularity - or not (various polling, etc.)

I'm not sure when they get elected as the new Liberal leader, they become the Prime Minister. The GG needs to be satisfied that they have the confidence of the House of Commons before swearing them in as Prime Minister - I'm not sure how that is formally done. I believe it's usually that's done...

Trudeau Popularity - or not (various polling, etc.)

I think, if I were the Liberal Party, I would have wanted him to just call an election. No one who is capable of righting the ship is going to run for Leader of the party right now. They are going to take a licking in the election and have basically zero chance of not being replaced within the...

Trudeau Popularity - or not (various polling, etc.)

"The prime minister is expected to address Canadians at 10:45 a.m. ET from outside his home at Rideau Cottage." For some reason, this irks me. Say what you want about his last ~9 years as PM, in the last 6-12 months he has pretty shamelessly put himself first over Canada (and his party) and...

The Great Gun Control Debate- 2.0

What part of the law prevents a "for-profit" entity from running a gun club or shooting range? I'm also not sure how that matters .... "not-for-profit" corps only differ from "for-profit" corps in one way that is relevant to the point I thnk you're trying to make - they don't pay income taxes...

I have doeskin Army Mess kit with Log collar dogs on it. I'm 5'10, should fit if your height is anywhere near that and chest is between 42" to 46" The pants would need a stripe added I believe. The Log kit has two but mine was an RCR kit ... I just never got it changed when I OT'd. Can't...

Federal Government & Union spar over returning to office

It's not a stat / not meant to be strictly literal. It's from my earlier post where I quipped that the public sector is a place where 5% of the people do 95% of the work. It's a play off of Price's Law, except my personal experience says in government it's much worse.
