The Reserve Thread- A Merged Collection of Q & A's

Why not do both? Join the Reserves AND finish high school. The Reserves are perfectly suited for a high school student. Paid training in the summer and during traditional school breaks(Easter and Christmas), and a chance to find out if you really like the army.

Your Favorite piece of Issue Gear

I assume the Ranger blanket is the US poncho liner? Thats what we called them(in fact, thats what they were). A fine piece of kit, along with old US M 65 jacket liner. I thought the 82 pattern webbing was just the cats meow. Compared to the 64 pattern, it was.

Look Who's Seeking NDP Nomination in Vancouver Centre....

Sam Sullivan has lost the nomination of his party (The Non Partisan Association, pragmatic conservatives) to NPA Councilor Peter Ladner, and will not be the NPA candidate in the next mayoral election.  The COPE (The Council of Progressive Electors, foaming at the mouth communists who eat live...

    Folding the Black Betty

The first thing to do with the old issue black air mattress is to dig out (with a C 5 knife, Buck 110, or for you youngsters, your Gerber or whatever) the diaphragm connecting the inflation bag and the mattress. Your inflation time will be cut in half, and you won't be making Benny Hill like...

Here is an article on different types of cooling vests. http://ergonomics.uq.edu.au/eaol/chauhan.pdf I would lean towards the dry ice model myself. No batteries, much colder. If one were to come up with a design along the lines of a light weight plastic vest(in the style of the high visibility...

Look Who's Seeking NDP Nomination in Vancouver Centre....

Taste Is On The Agenda For Military Meals Ready To Eat

The ham omelette was the best IMP breakfast ration ever! Even the old canned ham omelette in the IRP was ok, both required copious amounts of ketchup, though.

Shooting in Carcassonne: 17 wounded when french soldier fires on crowd.

You would think so. So that leaves the other possibility open, that it was intentional.

Shooting in Carcassonne: 17 wounded when french soldier fires on crowd.

His magazines would have been loaded prior to the event. Perhaps someone with a beef swapped his magazine with one with ball rounds. It would be easy to hide, just top off the mag with 2 blank rounds, he would not have noticed.
