Transfer from PRes to CIC Officer?

That's a good comparison, yes.  I don't think you quite understood what I meant by 'downgrading'.  As previously stated, CIC is a wonderful organization which I admire.  However, like previously stated, there is less personnel, less funding and less experience.  So let me try again: I began as...

    What is your military status?

    2 years PRes Sapper 31cer.

Transfer from PRes to CIC Officer?

Rage, it may just be me but it seems the previous posts assumed you held an officerial position within your PRes unit.  As a private you wouldn't have caught on to what the typical Res officer does.  However I must say I agree wholeheartedly that any experience gained through the reserves would...

    The air cadet thread

In the London area we have an annual all-air weekend with 27, 612, 599 and a bunch of others (sorry to you guys, can't remember right now) and I've always thought it was amazing.  Look forward to them every year.  I agree, everyone's so friendly and you can make larger more awesome games with so...

    The air cadet thread

A bit of a different topic... What are your thoughts on multi-squadron bush weekends (Ex: All air)?  Personally, I think they're great but there are some who prefer squadron survival exes.  Also, who would be open to the idea of multi-element bush weekends (ex: Air vs Army capture the flag)? ...

    The air cadet thread

Kayla, I'll check tomorrow what we've got available for you and chat it over with the CO.  Let me know whereabouts your squadron is located.

    The air cadet thread

Something we jokingly talk about at our squadron is how army cadets seem to get rewarded for every little thing they do.  They're like walking billboards.    What I'm hearing is that you want to make it easier to advance in rank.  Doesn't it feel better when you get promoted, knowing it wasn't a...

    The air cadet thread

Flight corporal, eh?  This is the first I've heard of it and to be honest I don't think we need it, though it will finally even up the army vs. air amount of ranks (7 for each) for those who have been trying to match up the different ranks. I'm guessing the promotion trains the cadet for 2IC...

    london BMQ? SQ? civies?

Hmm... After looking over the kit list, I understand you can bring one duffel bag and the ruck.  I suppose everything must fit in those 2 bags, including your civvies.  That's what I'll be doing.

    Vancouver Olympics

Wow, that would be a sweet gig! ;D I'm with Lost_Warrior on this one.  If not all reservists, at least a good percentage should go (65?).

Reserves in Ottawa would be awesome. Join the Highlanders!  All the goodness of a part-time army job plus the added benefit of kilts! Good luck!

Tips on how to become a recruit

Hmmm... I'm in absolutely no way a fitness buff, but I'll tell you what worked for me.  I had the same general problem as you, though not as severe (I could do 14).  I trained mainly on my cardio (ie. jogging) every other day (because therein lie the true problem) and at the same time did max...

Tips on how to become a recruit

Adrian, Doubling your push-up maximum in a month may seem tough, but it's feasible.  Just try to increase the amount by 4 or 5 each week. As to 'mental normalness', there is no set test to measure your mental stability, but they can get an idea through the interview.  You'll be fine, I'm sure  :)

Application - How long does it take? (Merged)

Wasn't too bad for me... Started the ball rolling early April.  Did the CFAT, medical and interview a week after all on the same day.  I had to wait a month to do the physical and I failed (heart rate too high, nerves I guess).  A month later I passed the physical and 2 days later I got the...
