Not all Majors in the artillery ( BCs, DCO, etc.) are IG qualified. What about those who did first ERE as RSS or NDHQ?

I taught that the IG course was not a career (obligatory) course for officers.

    IG course content

I am intrigued to know the different topics covered in the IG course. I understand that it is a year long which would take half the time for a two year posting. Are the length of posting longer at the RCAS?

    Change of RSM parade

I have a question regarding the change of RSM stick handover. The ceremonies I attended the regimental stick was handed from the retiring CWO to the new RSM. Photos from a recent change of RSM ceremony show the CO taken the regimental stick from the old RSM and giving it to the new RSM. Has the...

    JTAC Vs FAC

Given that a great number JTAC are NCOs/WO. Would they be all from the forward observer bty or from any background in the artillery?

    JTAC Vs FAC

Thank you all for the responses. Can a JTAC or FOO for that matter call on other assets such as naval gun fire and/or rockets?

    JTAC Vs FAC

If I understand correctly JTAC’s job is the coordination of fire assets, while the FAC’s job is bringing fire from air assets onto a specific target. Is this correct?

    Gunners’ junior leader course

I just read RCAA FB feed and it was showing recent graduates from GJLC. How long has this course been going? And what is the difference between the GJLC and the infantry or the armoured versions?

    BMQ-Land (soldier qualification?) for gunners

I joined the reserve in 1973, did my GMT at the Armoury on Tuesday nights and Saturdays. During the summer they sent us to Valcartier for gunners’ course, which was 8 weeks long. The great part was that our instructors were X Bty. Two Master Bombardiers who were originally from 4 RCHA. The...

    BMQ-Land (soldier qualification?) for gunners

I listen to CAF podcasts and one of the episodes discussed changes to DP 1 training. Gunners had to absorb SQ training into the gun detachment members’ course. Does that mean the gunner’s’ course is longer? What is the length of the Reg F and P Res gunners course?
