UPDATE
Laser eye surgery went very well. I now have 20/15 vision in both eyes (better than 20/20!). Even if I am not selected for Pilot or AEC, I am happy with my decision to get the surgery. Money well spent, regardless of the result of my application.
It appears the CF has changed their...
**Another update**
I have decided to go ahead with the laser eye surgery. Procedure is booked for November 21st. I must now wait until May 21st, 2015 before any progress can be made.
I've also been in contact with the recruiting officer here in Moncton. He has informed me that my file must be...
UPDATE
The vision results from my medical came back as a V4, immediately disqualifying me from both AEC and Pilot trades. My options are to consider other trade options (not many trades accept a Bachelor's of Science in Kinesiology) or pay out of pocket for LASIK surgery and essentially...
Thank you Master Corporal,
As I mentioned in my initial post, I am currently waiting for my medical papers to be processed so that I can move on to the interview. The recruiters were initially hopeful that my application could be completed in time for the November 17th selection dates for AEC...
After spending some time on this website, especially on the Application Process Samples thread, I've discovered that there are hardly any similarities between individuals' applications. Some applications have taken years whereas some applicants have been enrolled within months of their initial...
Hello,
I recently completed my medical/physical at my local CFRC in Moncton on August 12th. Upon completion of said medical, the medical officer handed me several medical forms to be filled out by my doctor and optometrist. The officer also indicated that I should contact my local CFRC within...
From the information that I have gathered, I do understand that the Weapons stream would be quite different than the VFR and IFR streams of ATC. During my most recent NAV CANADA application, I had the opportunity to visit and sit down with controllers at the Moncton airport and the control...
Little bit of a background story to start...
Since I was a boy, I've always wanted to be an air traffic controller. My father was a controller for NAV CANADA and my grand-father was a flight service specialist for NAV CANADA as well. Since both my parents worked shift work, I would sometimes...
After seeing the title of this thread, I figured it would be as good a place as any to post my question/concern.
I am currently 26 years old and I have just received a call from my local CFRC to schedule a medical. I had an ACL reconstruction surgery on my left knee (as well as a medial...
I was excited when I received a phone call today to book my medical. They wanted to schedule me for this coming Thursday but I had to push it back a week because I will be out of town for work reasons. The recruiting officer said that my medical will be scheduled next week. Date and time to be...
Went to my CFRC yesterday for some more info or an update. Still no word for my medical/interview. They did tell me that the selection dates for AEC and Pilot were July 28th, and the following selection date isn't until mid-November. Considering I still have the initial interview/medical to do...
Congratulations to those who got their offers! Best wishes for BMQ and your respective careers.
As for those of us still waiting, hopefully our applications are processed and completed sooner rather than later. I'll be following up in person at my CFRC tomorrow. Still waiting for the interview...
Congrats to both of you for getting the call for BMQ! Good luck!
Currently waiting to hear back to schedule a medical/interview. I doubt I'll get everything done in time for an August-September BMOQ date.
