I hope down the line we don't reduce the number of subs in half unless we simply really can't get the crews for them (that one matter, that barring conscription, can't be solved no matter how fast a sub can be built or local industry build to maintain them/do it ourselves can fix)

Eh, I could see the delayed timeline being seen as better to allow the military to get more people in the navy and train people. I would hope Carney didn't choose them because of the above worry. I think a lot of people in the gov and Canada itself realize that we can't let our forces degrade...

But Canada needs new subs. And even if things 'settle down', that the USA elected someone like Trump twice means that we cannot expect to have the same reliability. Not to mention the current subs are, I suspect, already entering their end life for what their hulls can stand.

Ya, it's the time delays and people saying the Korea ones are better technology-with the Germany company being a lot more vague on the details. If they did go with Germany, I do wonder why the government would choose one with a much more sketchy delivery. Maybe trying to leave wiggle room...

So the Germany choice, if that is correct, is it the worst choice of the two? I've heard that some worried that Germany couldn't produce sub quick enough for Canada.
