Just wondering what the policy is with regards to personal firearms for those living in shacks? Does it vary from base to base? I very much doubt you could store it in your room, but is there a lockup you can use on base? I'm a reservist who will be spending the summer (and potentially longer)...

At least according to their website, the GGHG was called the Governor General's Body Guard from 1866. There was another cavalry unit in Toronto at the time, but that was the Mississauga Horse. I'm not sure exactly when the C broad arrow was introduced. It was definately not more than 5 or 10...

I tend to doubt that - first of all, when you look at the marking its 6.TH, which certainly wouldn't make you think "6th". And Enfield regimental markings almost always identify a specific unit rather then a company within the unit, within the unit you would use the rack number, in this case 211.

Actually, depending on where you are the 7.62 x 54mm is starting to dry up - I used to get the 15 round brown paper packets of Hungarian MG ball all the time, but I haven't seen it in a couple years except at gun shows. Course, Winnipeg sucks for gun shops. I do enjoy the variations of...

I think it really depends on what you want it for. I won't comment on a hunting rifle, as I'm a military gun collector, not a hunter. If  you don't have alot of experience I would definately suggest starting with a .22, you might want to look at a Ruger 10/22 as there's so many accessories...
