Bettering Fitness Standards while Waiting for BMQ

Hello all, I'm going to be joining the reserves and have my CFAT and fitness test in a week. CFAT, I'm not concerned about as I can study for that. However is there some kind of benchmark I should meet so I know I'm going to do well on the fitness test. Like how many pushups, situps, running...

    C/Flight Corporal commanding a C/Sergeant?

Hey all, Just a quick question, recently I was appointed as a flight commander at my squadron. The 2ic of my flight actually outranks me, in that I will become a sergeant this year and he will become a flight sergeant. I'm not sure how this will work, as he could technically pull rank on me. Is...

ROTP at Civilian University 2004 - 2018 [Merged]

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for the information!

ROTP at Civilian University 2004 - 2018 [Merged]

Right, that's interesting. I don't want to tell the system that obviously, and I want to have a good chance for selection, but is there really that little chance of being able to go to civi u for engineering? If I mention I'm open to going to civi u instead of RMC would that impact my selection?

ROTP at Civilian University 2004 - 2018 [Merged]

So what this post is telling me is I'm going to have to give them a damn good reason why I should be able to go to a civi u? I read somewhere that you need to submit an essay, is this true?

    Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP)-RMC 2000 - 2018 [Merged]

Hey all, I'm pretty hell bent on joining the Air Force as an AERE, so I just wanted some information about the recruitment process. 1. What kind of averages should I be looking at to be competitive for RMC, which is my backup choice? 2. How early can/should you apply for ROTP? My timeline...

ROTP at Civilian University 2004 - 2018 [Merged]

First of all thanks for the incredibly detailed answer. Yeah the reasoning is mostly financial, but since it turns out you can't keep the extra pay, there's no point. I also didn't look at the coop schedule. Not dojnf coop is not a huge deal, the military is the work experience after all...

    Aerospace Engineer ( AERE )

Ah, can you elaborate a bit? Is it helpful to speak with the officers of those groups when they visit, or is it something else? Dumb question I guess but I just want to have all the information I need.

It's basically work experience programs. Most don't require it but Waterloo offers it as a large part of their curriculum, as do most other universities. I'm not sure if it's mandatory at Waterloo or not, but coop works where you work one term at an engineering firm and study for two terms. Any...

ROTP at Civilian University 2004 - 2018 [Merged]

So since that post I've crunched the numbers again and turns out I can make it in pretty much all of my top choice uni's on OCdt pay alone. After income tax I can still save up some money to go see family etc. I'm really scared of living paycheck to paycheck but looks like that may not be the...

ROTP at Civilian University 2004 - 2018 [Merged]

Hi Hucker, Yeah that definetly cleared a lot of stuff up. The process sounds kind of interesting so I just have a couple more questions. 1. How exactly would you convince them that the uni you choose is better than RMC? Is it good enough to go "they're the #2" engineering school in Canada...

ROTP at Civilian University 2004 - 2018 [Merged]

So I have a couple of questions about civi u rotp. Say I apply for a couple Civi uni's (looking at Waterloo, UBC, UofA, in that order), as long as I get accepted into one the CF will allow me to go there and pay for the tuition? Or is it only if you need to go to a civi u? Is there a cap on how...

    Aerospace Engineer ( AERE )

No I meant the information for being an FTE is already out there. I should probably correct that.

    Aerospace Engineer ( AERE )

So it seems like the chances of getting posted to a hard engineering position on your first tour is low, which is fair after all someone needs to do the paperwork and I'm more than willing to put my time in. However, how can you maximize your chances of getting a hard engineering position, or...

    Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP)-RMC 2000 - 2018 [Merged]

Thanks a lot for the response. Definetly put some of my fears at ease. Just a few more questions for clarification. How important are the sports, do they have to be team sports and how high level do you have to play? I'm saying this because Karate is my only sport right now and it's kind of...
