NHL playoffs 2025!

Two insufferable cities against each other?

Toronto historically will choke worse than the StL did tonight, so I expect Ottawa Sens to advance there (admittedly that may also just be hope).

The Habs are going to get destroyed by the Caps.

So I don’t see either of your wishes coming true…
The Caps spent the last half of the season focused on Ovi passing Gretzky, not on playing team hockey.

They are vulnerable.

No more than any of the teams you see come out of the Atlantic Division. Boston & New York come to mind. You hate ua cause you ain't us 😉

Toronto has shown themselves to be able to play for keeps this season. This isn't the same team from last year.

Not so sure. Once the GR8 race was done and dusted, they fell off the rails. I would be interested to see if they still have the hunger that Montreal showed getting to that WC slot.

Anything can happen in the post-season 😉.

Dallas got absolutely owned by Colorado tonight (5-1). Not sure what that says.

The Stanley Cup winner is coming out of the West. I want it to be Edmonton. I can accept Winnipeg, in a pinch.

I want the other team to be Toronto.

I'm hoping for a Toronto/Montreal ECF, because my God, that would be epic to watch.

One thing about Leaf fans, they are willing to pay to support the team, despite their performance.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have long had among the most expensive tickets in the National Hockey League. The reason? Demand for Leafs seats greatly exceeds supply.

Scotiabank Arena holds 18,800 seats for Leafs games, with 15,500 reserved for season ticket holders. Because of the demand for season tickets, their sale is limited to the 10,000 people on the waiting list.

Dallas was holding strong up till the third, but they crumbled hard in the third. The empty net goal near the three min mark I think crushed them. With a home rink loss, I don’t think they have much hope going into Colorado.

I’ll hold you to that statement.

I’d at least like one of those two in the SCF.

Was almost tracking you till then. ;)

I was with you up until WPG/MTL final. I’ll need that to be Jets/Sens to see The Cup rolling down Elgin this spring. 🏆
The Sens are the Leafs of eastern Ontario, but at least they occasionally get out of the first round.

Like the Leafs, they will find novel ways to choke and break your heart, but still bring you back for more.

Bah. The only thing this Sens team has in common with Ott teams of old is Alfredsson being a part of the picture (and if you were gonna bring something from then back, he is definitely the best thing). For me, it all depends on Brady and Ullmark. If Tkatchuk comes out of the gate a more responsible and offensive minded monster (too often it’s just straight monster) and Ullmark is at his best (consistently, mind) I think they’ve got a chance to go all the way. I don’t have any qualms about the performance of the rest of the team.

MTL has been a majorly pleasant surprise this year and are feisty as all get out. Montambeault has the chops to be the next Price, IMHO, but the team I think needs a little more seasoning and maybe another year with the addition of a few older leaders.

Btw, a lot of my optimism is based on Green smiling on his way to the airplane. I’ve never seen that before (nor has anyone else) so I feel it’s like a major portent.

Charles Barkley (former NBA great, TNT commentator and actually pretty knowledgeable hockey fan) has Toronto vs Edmonton in the SCF with Edmonton taking it all. In his opinion, Canadian teams are extra fired up this year because of tariffs (that bit might have been tongue in cheek), but he thinks Edmonton’s depth (McJesus and Drai) and experience will eventually tell.

I feel vindicated…

I was shocked that 6 networks down here were carrying the Stars/Avalanche game. TNT joined the game right after the Jets finished the Blues.

At between $10K and almost $30K per pair next year, not many mortals are paying for that. A lot of corporately-owned seats that are used as either internal perques or client relations. MLSE doesn'r care if there are bums in the seat for every game or, if there are, if they are even watching. So long as the seat is sold.
