The War in Ukraine

just this alone would be a great successful mission
Here's the thing, the 95s and 22s are out of production. The factories are gone, so any critical damage can't be fixed so the planes are a wrtie off. Wait for sat pics, to see how much was actually hit but this could be a crippling day for Russian strategic aviation, and in turn the Russian nuclear triad

TU-160M production only just started in 2023, and the estimates prior to the war breaking out was 3 per year to fulfill the 50 total ordered. I'd be surprised if they've managed more than 2 since sanctions kicked in. I don't even think modernization of their existing 16 TU-160's to the M variant has even gone anywhere yet.

So, putting aside for a moment our collective throbbing boners for burning Russian bombers-

We’re starting to realize how COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY FUCKED we currently are from a domestic force protection standpoint, right?

How easily could this be done to our C-17s or MPA? Or to our pretty new destroyers? Or a CC-330 returning a chalk home from Roto? Or a handful of commercial airports a few days before Christmas? Or the national Remembrance Day ceremony? Something on a smaller scale than this is well within reach of non-state actors.
There will be a lot of panic now

Of the 100 or so strategic bombers the Russians had theyve lost a few already and i wonder how many of them were operational

An A-50 or two would be another big loss as well and a SSBN would be crazy

It is time to get very, very serious about domestic force protection. I have been banging this drum for a while.

Looks like the Russian equivalent of the ‘RCAF Regiment’ was asleep at the switch ;)

There’s video of a large smoke plume with audio of potentially lots of secondaries. Fuel or munitions seems more likely. I struggle to imagine SUAS the size we see in the videos catastrophically killing and burning a ship.

more than likely better targets as a SSBN isnt really a major deal for Ukraine is it?

Nice way to let someone know even the most valuable & well-guarded (if not protected, as this shows if true) of granny's precious silverware isn't safe, either, no?

How many Russian troops'll it take to patrol how far outside all their airbase perimeters, right?
