This is probably a better fit for r/canadaguns, but I refuse to join reddit, so here it is:

Rules:
  • You can only name 5 guns
  • You cannot repeat calibres/gauges
  • You must have 1 (and only 1) of each the basic actions - bolt, pump, lever, hinge/break, and semi
  • Swapping barrels on shotguns is cheating, changeable chokes is fine
  • NR's only

Try to cover off as many applicable functions as you can

V1- guns that you have
V2- guns that you want (pre OIC flurry)

Looking forward to some envy

Before the accident (my condolences- such a tragedy).. what were your thoughts on the 24? Were the barrels well regulated?
I was looking hard at one of them (either 22LR or WMR over .410, or a Brno zh304 /307 (.22 Hornet or 7x57R over 12) and despite the fudd version of cool factor I just couldn't get around the fact that despite it being viable for multiple uses I would never actually choose it over the other options in the cabinet.

I am a fan. The .12ga was very slightly low but the 30-30 was a tac driver.

I liked it as I was frustrated that while big game hunting I would often come across tons of small game that I had no ethical means of taking.

Bolt - 308 Winchester with scope
Lever - 30/30 Winchester
Pump - whatever you guys recommend. I think a Mossberg?
Break - .410 something - whatever works
Semi - a derivative of the Ar Family in 5.56

I don't own any of these. I presume we are prepping for the ZA?

Psht- ZA is a one gun situation, this challenge may or may not be IKN's way of gamifying and constraining his real life purchases to try and nip a sliiiight spending problem in the bud before it got momentum built.

Have you gotten into reloading yet ? Just wait, it gets worse.

Not yet- if stick with the 7x57 I'll definitely be considering it down the line.

I don't shoot enough to justify it from the volume/economics side of things- but I've been wondering about it as incorporating it as another part of the hobby (in place of collecting) that I can tinker with at home

I use Lee Loader kits.

I can produce about 100 rounds per hour. With some purchased upgrades like a de-primer tool.

I havent shot much this summer, thanks wild fires, but these are an inexpensive way to have some fun and play with loads.

I have a Dillon XL650.
Extra heads so caliber swaps are pretty easy as long as it’s the same base and primer size.

Doing it today I’d get the Super1050 but it wasn’t available when I got mine (1999 ish).

I’ve got 9mm, .45, 5.56mm, .300Blk and .308 Win dies for it. I haven’t gotten 6.5 Creedmore dies yet.

It’s nice to be able to crank out over 500 plus rounds an hour - and despite what a lot of folks tend to beleive it’s totally possible to load sub moa match ammo on a progressive reloader. Just have decent dies and components.

But I haven’t even set it up in the house we own now and been there 6 years.

Every time I get set to do so, I look at my ammo supply and figure the time is better spent loading mags.
