Government hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

I'm going to refocus off of tariffs and back on Cdn mil procurement. I think a good process would be to examine new projects, not currently running ones. Cost would be terribly prohibative for changing a lot of our own projects at this time. But new things like the Indirect Fires...

Government hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

I don't think we'll see double digit unemployment. Last time that happened in Canada was 1994. Hight of COVID it briefly went to 9.6%. Even the financial crisis it didn't hit 9% and that was a full meltdown of the economy. However there will be massive supply chain re-adjustments because the...

Government hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

2035 is just Japan's hard deadline. Though I expect if it's going to go off with China its going to be way sooner than 10 years from now.

Government hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

As long as they don't change it for everyone who's vested at this point. I'm to far into my retirement planning to have it all change suddenly!

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

I think that all of this will depend on if Canada and the US negotiate an end to the trade strife. Then the F35 project will go ahead to a point, and we'll still probably join the GCAP project with the UK or somesuch. If the trade strife continues then there will be over politicization damage...

    2025 Federal Election - 28 Apr 25

Not true. T Hey they promised to repeal the law of gravity. And they also promised to not follow through on any promises.

Yah they are like the National Party from the 90's. Trying to replace the liberals as a centrist party.

Army green? They also get about $1.25 per vote from the gov't I think so you also paid a small coffee to the party.

I will be in the morning. Quarter tank left. You're right though. Focus on the things I can actually control. This year politically I'm going to try something different. I'm going to vote for the best canadidate in my riding. I'm not overly worried about the federal policies as they will...

Maybe I should put my tinfoil hat back on but... Danielle Smith seems to be angling with her 9 "non-negotiable" demands for the next PM (some of which are really... dunno... odd). She been spending a lot of time visiting Republicans. Feels like she's shopping for a better deal or is setting...

Pay does not increase retention significantly. Australia tried this. It doesn't work. So given that it doesn't work we need something else.

IiRC it's only one MT30 per ship. To get the same power for the type 26 you would need two LM2500's.

    New Canadian Shipbuilding Strategy

We're doing OK. This is a big lift. If you look at where we are heading we'll only be behind Russia in terms of icebreaking capability. Add to that above: 6 AOP 2 CCG AOPS 1 PC2 6 interim icebreakers Not sure if Russias industrial efforts are aimed at building ships right now... this is a...

Indirect Fires Modernization Project - C3/M777 Replacement

I need it. I'm more comfortable with things that float on water (though the NEMO 120mm is designed to go on boats). I think the 120mm fits into the area where the 105mm gun used to fit. But its got more explosive power and far more mobility (when mounted on a vehicle). I really think Mech...

Indirect Fires Modernization Project - C3/M777 Replacement

You could organize the 120mm like that if you wanted but I'm going to step outside the "mortars are automatically infantry weapons" paradigm for a second here. I think that they should be Mech Brigade assets (attached from the Artillery Regiment) and directed as necessary down to units that...
