Freedom Convoy protests [Split from All things 2019-nCoV]

IIRC the US border mandates were levied in response to our border mandates. And the consensus was if we dropped them the US would follow suit. I did a quick Google search but it was flooded with articles about the mandates ending and I couldn't find what I was looking for. Exactly what I was...

Freedom Convoy protests [Split from All things 2019-nCoV]

My post didn’t take sides, I simply said if he met with them and listened to their concerns things would have disolved quicker. I didn't say I supported them. As for who should he meet with? How about the ones charged for leading the protest? You say there was no clear leader but the media at...

Freedom Convoy protests [Split from All things 2019-nCoV]

Did you even read my post? It's common knowledge that when angy people feel heard and respected they calm down. It works even when the answer is no. Feeling heard is more important than the outcome desired. The convoy didn't want to be in Ottawa. They wanted to go back to work and feed their...

Freedom Convoy protests [Split from All things 2019-nCoV]

Just imagine if PJT had acted like a statesman and had met with the protestors and listened to their case. He had lots of time he could have met them at any point along the route. If the protestors felt heard and respected they likely would have dispersed. Instead he acted like a scared child...

    Hybrid Electric Vehicles

you will find people will start rebuilding older cars to keep them around. Like in heavy trucks right now a 1995-2007 model truck is worth a lot more money right now than a 2008-2020 truck. One of my customers just paid $105,000 for a 1994 Pete and sold his 2022 Pete because he couldn't afford...

    Hybrid Electric Vehicles

ICE vehicles burn when they are being driven. It often starts with oil getting on hot exhaust components or electrical overload. Sometimes due to a collision. Very rarely do people get injured from the fire because they often have ample time to exit before the fire gets too bad. AFAIK EV'S burn...

    Hybrid Electric Vehicles

When it comes to electric trucks these guys have the only viable answer IMO. They take out the 15L diesel and put a 9L diesel generator in the truck. Then they install electric axles and build the truck to handle logging in B.C. The batteries stay warm because the diesel engine coolant heats...

    Hybrid Electric Vehicles

Or... the fact our politicians are bought and paid for by the one country that has cornered the market on EV battery minerals. That wouldn't drive the EV mandate at all!

    Infantry Vehicles

You are right, drones can be hacked but as they typically hang out at 40,000 ft it would be much harder (in my mechanic mind) to hack them than a UGV which someone could sneak up on and get within a few meters of. I'm not saying UGV's are a bad idea, just that these things need to be planned for.

Also A Bradley crew is much harder to turn against its owners than a UGV which can be hacked.

https://www.canada.ca/en/navy/campaigns/hmcs-oriole-great-lakes-deployment.html It seems she did a great lakes tour this past summer. No doubt with recruitment in mind. Maybe we'll see more. Had I known about it i would have taken the kids to see it.

    Hamas invaded Israel 2023

Exactly, who dosent like a good underdog story. Hollywood has made many movies like that. But use you head people. "Let us keep our minds open, by all means, as long as that means keeping our sense of perspective and seeking an understanding of the forces which mould the world. But don’t keep...

    New Canadian Shipbuilding Strategy

Rather than commandeer ferries if shit goes down wouldn't we be better served with a fleet of merchant mariner crewed transport ships? In peace time we could use them for supplying Arctic stations and remote villages. Supplying humanitarian aid around the world and ferrying military equipment...

    Canada's tanks

The Mack brochures list most models as U.S. and Euro 3-5 and JP8 capable. I remember the MSVS SMP was also the same. The ones that aren't listed that way are the Cummins powered ones. https://mackdefense.wpenginepowered.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/MackDefenseFleetPortfolio2023-1.pdf I don't...

    Canada's tanks

Besides, the last thing you want is your MBT suddenly deciding to do a regen when your trying not to be detected. 1000F exhaust Temps would make your heat signature worse than the Abrams already is.

    Canada's tanks

MBTs don't use on-highway engines. They top out around 15 liters. The leopard 2 has a 27 liter engine. You sent me down a rabbit hole of trying to determine the emissions standard of the leopard 2 and I haven't found any mention of emissions on either KMW or MTU websites. Off road...

    Replacing the Subs

I know little but the F35, C17, C130J, and CH147F were bought pretty much off the shelf right? Maybe the procurement people realized Canadianizing everything is a big part of why they can't seem to buy anything on time or on budget.
