    Restructuring of Reserve Health Services

You'll be just fine  :) Under the COA that has 1 HS Regiment, you would be a squadron, with two troops in the locations of your previous field ambulances. Under the COAs where there are multiple HS Regiments, you'd be one Regiment with a Squadron in place of the field ambulance (Regimental HQ...

    TF-08 Bison Drivers

I'll do my best. There was a plan discussed a little while ago, that would take a Reserve Force Medic, put them on a PCP course, send them on deployment and use them to instruct afterwards. (A Class C contract for 3 years). That plan didn't end up coming into effect because.... ? I don't know...

    TF-08 Bison Drivers

Ok... I understand the fact that yes, a Medic would be much better employed in the back of the ambulance, but if I can refresh everyone's memories for just a moment, this discussion started with having RESERVE medics taking their bison course. So as much as they would be better employed in the...

    The "Nursing Officer" Merged Thread

.. for now. The latest rumours out of CFMSS regarding BCT Med is that within 2-3 years, the regular force "Basic Field" course will be broken down for reserve Nurses, Doctors and HCAs. The course would include fieldcraft skills, leadership skills, weapons handling, finances, CFPAS, etc, as well...

    TF-08 Bison Drivers

Agreed, but until such time as Res F medics receive the same training as our Regular Force counterparts, I see no reason why a medic can't fill other "non-medic medical" (Amb Driver) type positions. Also, if the medic in question is slated to drive a Bison Amb (and actually does end up driving a...

    TF-08 Bison Drivers

Very true, but the Reserve Force medics in question CANNOT serve as medics in theatre, because they do not have the minimum required qualifications (PCP - Reg F QL3). It's not a matter of mis-employing a medic as a driver, it's a matter of employing a willing reservist. The individual soldier's...

    TF-08 Bison Drivers

These folks are the ones that do not have the PCP Course (Reg F QL3). Without Reg F QL3, Res F medics cannot deploy as medics, and as a Senior HS Officer so gracefully put a few years ago, are "nothing more than glorified ambulance drivers". This is the Reserve Force member trying to make sure...

    TF-08 Bison Drivers

I'm sure that I have a few pers in my unit that would be interested in this training and the subsquent deployments. Are there other positions avail, or was it just the 3? This is the first I've seen of this being offered to Reserve Medics in a long time. Thanks, BCM

    Restructuring of Reserve Health Services

We saw this one out in the West on Wednesday. The document as written has 5 COAs (my interpretation, feel free to correct as required): 1- Close the Res Fd Ambs and move everyone with any kind of professional medical training (Docs, Nurses, PCPs, EMTs, etc) to the PRL, which will be expanded...

    Ex Charging Bison (Winnipeg)

There were supposed to be hired protestors for this exercise anyways. The way I see it, these groups will just add some realism to it all. Come on out and protest. It will not stop me from doing my job. BCM

    CFHS Skills Competitions

1 Fd Amb had put together the "MWO Osbourne Skills Competition" last year, which was very good. The main body of competitors was from 1 Fd Amb themselves, but the western med res units were invited as well (11, 12, 15, 16, 17 & 18). Unfortunately, these types of competitions are extremely...

    HCA in the reserves?

As people on this site are always saying, do a search. I personally have responded to a few questions re: HCAs in the reserves in the past, so the answers are floating around. If you can't find what you want, or have specific questions, feel free to PM me.

Medics, eh? That's all we need, a NO DUFF cas that we cant help because there's too many civilian "medics" in the way...  ::)

    CFHS Skills Competitions

Anyone from 1 Fd Amb can probably answer this question for me quite easily. Is the MWO Osborne Mil Skills competition a yearly event?

All things Health Care Admin/HCA (merged)

If a Res Fd Amb had a full compliment of trained HCAs, the MO/NOs would be filling the line serials for MO/NOs. They would basically be a training cadre (medical instruction, evaluation, etc). Realistically, as RN PRN pointed out, Nursing Officers and Medical officers will often occupy any of...

All things Health Care Admin/HCA (merged)

I would disagree. If there are trained HCAs, as well as MO/NOs, then the MO/NOs should be filling positions that where they would be better able to use their professional skills. It is only in the absence of HCAs that MO/NOs should be going out of their trade. My 2 cents.
