BMQ / BMOQ - Personal Electronics during course [MERGED]

That is subjective.  Some of my worst soldiers often speak of their "quality", being unable to see (or accept) their own shortcomings.  No one is saying the troops themselves are junk (although some may be, and time will tell), only that their potential is not tapped or tested until later down...

    Warrant Officer DP1 Reaction

Yup...it's gone viral (amongst the CF crowd anyway).

    Warrant Officer DP1 Reaction

Reminds me of a typical Monday.  I weep for our future.

Nope not at all.  It just creates MORE "unacceptable behaviour".

BMQ / BMOQ - Personal Electronics during course [MERGED]

I know where you've been working for the last 6years and I know how motivated your personnel can be.  Back in the REAL world I've learned that the grass is truly greener on your side of the fence.  It is BAD out here, at least in my little microcosm, and the failure is systemic.  We have the...

BMQ / BMOQ - Personal Electronics during course [MERGED]

And therein lies the problem.  I shouldn't have to line everyone up and play the disappointed dad because they feel sweeping the floor is beneath them.  Sometimes the 'Why' is just common sense i.e. you sweep the floor because it is dirty; it is not a punishment or a reason for hurt feelings and...

BMQ / BMOQ - Personal Electronics during course [MERGED]

The biggest problem I have with regards to this issue is that Basic Training 'seems' to be producing a lower quality of soldier by no longer tearing down the wall of entitlement and rebuilding these folks into a functioning member of the organization i.e. a proper soldier.  The Pte soldiers that...

    MGRS GPS units.

I have the GPSMAP60CS and it was easy to convert to MGRS in the menu.  It is a great unit and has a dedicated Geocaching mode.  It's discontinued but the website has several new models.  If you want a cheaper model the ETREX can do MGRS as well. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=143

Army Communication & Information Systems Specialists (Sig Op, Lineman and LCIS Amalgamation)

MES is coming to a trade near you, it's not just an Army Sigs issue.  It is being implemented forces wide, we were just the test bed.  According to our MES managers it will soon spread like the plague, in fact there was just a CANFORGEN released talking about job based occupational codes and the...

My RC told me the food was good (it wasn't).  Things may have changed, it has been a while.  I was only allowed a single framed photograph and we only had access to our personal possessions on the one weekend we were allowed out in order to get some civilian clothing.  For outside contact there...

If you're going to basic training and you're worried about internet access you're doing it wrong. Do they allow you access to your personal possessions now days?

That was an overarching statement which encompassed the entire ACISS occupation.  Red/black infrastructure and network design will more than likely remain the realm of IM Group and more specifically DGIMT (parts of which are splitting off with Shared Services) with input from the technical...

Private Members Bill to Opt Out of Paying "Military Taxes"

Well at least we now know for sure that this isn't a "Ministry of Peace" à la George Orwell.  :Tin-Foil-Hat:

And hopefully Shared Services doesn't take too big a bite out of their (IST) lunch either.
