    Translation in the Army?

The CF doesn't have an occupation for translator/interpreter.  You would have to join another occupation.  After you are trained in that occupation, you would be able to volunteer for tasks/postings where your language abilities would be used. The first two languages will be very helpful, as...

Fitness for Operational Requirements of CAF Employment ( FORCE )

No - the tests are different.  The test at the CFRC is a step-test, which takes up much less room than the 20 metre shuttle run, which is the test at CFLRS. As well, in many places the test is not conducted at the CFRC, but at the contractors gym.

    Impressed with the recruiting process

A lot of the experience that an individual has at the CFRC depends on the program, who they are working with at the CFRC and which CFRC they are working with, and when.  I've seen excellent experiences at CFRCs that otherwise had lots of problems, and vice versa.  As well, the experience level...

Verification of Former Service (VFS) [Merged]

You will find that there are a number of people going the same route as you are - some for the first time.  We had several 50+ year old candidates on the recruit training this summer.  You may be one of the older people in your unit, but you will find others of a similar age, or older, in the...

Confused about ROTP financing at Civi U

The monthly salary is the same for ROTP OCdts, no matter which university they attend. The difference is that at RMC the tuition is not paid by the student, while at Civi U, the student needs to pay the tuition, and claim the cost.  The program pays for tuition, books, and mandatory fees.  If...

Got the Call, What are my Options?

Talk to the unit you want to join, and see what options they know about for BMQ.  Our Brigade has just started a weekend BMQ, (report date tonight!) but that is about as late as it can be done to complete the course on weekends before the start of the summer training cycle.  Each location has...

    quick question

The CFRC will decide when to make you an offer depending on your occupation choice, their work load, and your overall competiveness for the occupation.  They need to have a course vacancy to make the offer, so probably will not make an offer until after 1 Apr.

    Dropping rank and PRETC

It matters most to the person who drops their rank, and if from a restricted rank, it matters to the Career Manager, who has a host of experienced qualified and capable people who could be promoted.

    Online Applications

Even if the file is closed, it is still in the database, and can be easily re-opened once you provide the required documents.  You may need to re-print and re-sign the application form, to confirm you are still interested.

    Security Clearance Form

Most clerks prefer that forms be filled in with blue ink, so when copied they can tell which is the original.  However, most documents are scanned, and archived as digital images.  Black ink scans much better, providing a better image. Ringer -        If you have all the information on your...

Trying to start a reserve unit

redleafjumper: I've been following your efforts with some interest through this thread.  I hope that you are successful.  It would be interesting to see what success you have in gaining interest from ex-service personnel. BCOG

More sailors needed for Canada's warships

I think that one of the issues with getting enough people into the Navy is the high number of techs that are required, over 50% of the requirement.  The education and aptitude requirements are higher than non-tech occupations, which means that fewer people qualify.  There is intense competition...

    New Joining Instructions - CFLRS

Since at CFLRS the majority of recruits live in cubicles, which are part of a larger dormitory, and not seperate rooms - so the lamp to be used would be a ....

    Vancouver Recruitment Center

MAWO was never a consideration when deciding to move the CFRC in Vancouver.  The MAWO organizers know where the CFRC is - they organized a protest at the new location shortly after the move.

Can you get rejected from a trade?

In order to challenge the medical decision, your friend's son will need to get a letter from the doctor, preferably the one that treated him, providing specific information to the Recruiting medical staff.  There should be a form/letter he could get from the recruiting medical staff, which...

Subsidized Education? What if you fail?

If you fail at Christmas then what would happen would be a career review board.  Several options would be considered: -Immediate Release -Allow you to pay to repeat the courses/semester, on LWOP, and at your expense -cease subsidization, load you on the next available BMQ course, and follow-on...

    MERX WATCH: Infrastructure Going Up....

Burwash is just south of Sudbury.  When I was in Sudbury, it was used by 2IrRC. Nice training area for sect and platoon, with some scope for company level training. I don`t know who controls the training area, but imagine if someone called the unit in Sudbury they could provide the info.

    Contract Lengths (Merged)

    - Sorry - the para you quoted only gives CFRG the authority to offer a CE.  If they offered a VIE or IE25 contract, and you only wished to have a CE, you could ask, if you qualify -however that will delay the process, and may not result in a change to the original offer. The terms of service...

    References Superthread [Merged]

With the info provided about Backcheck, I think I know whats happening. Recruiting is developing a new reference check process, which uses a contractor.  That contractor is Backcheck, and the form would be what they are using to gather data to do the check.  Vancouver was the first site to be...

    References Superthread [Merged]

Are you certain that's what was said?  Or was it references that have known you for 5 years? Ask the CFRC staff why they have a different requirement than that listed on the website.  That should clarify the situation, since there is a national, standardized process that is being used.
