Being a staff cadet in Vernon, I noticed that too. You do a LOT of work, and you work for looong hours training the cadets, ensuring that they meet their timings, and that they are always supervised. For all of the work we do as staff cadets, we dont really get acknowledged for what we do, but...

Why would I want a CL coy when I could do drill all the time? Theres nothing better.

I remember him as "Mr. Sophisticated Bickford" in my D&C year. Him and I would always use our "sophisticated vocabulary" to raise eyebrows. You will be missed Sir. RIP. :salute:

The CHAP programs definately needs to go. Too many Cadets are abusing it to the point where the NCO's are scared to use a firm voice with an out-of-line cadet. With that said, I was actually dissapointed with the "Army" part of army cadets when I first joined. I thought it would be waaay more...

I believe there is an appeal going around to get the old PT program back. There were some cadets who were lazy and didn't want to do PT, but you get that everywhere. If it comes around to you, make sure you add your name and your corps number, and it is being presented to the Cadet Chief in Ottawa.

D&C was interesting to watch this year. They didn't get blakies (poor blokes), and the flag drill was really different from when I was the commander in 2005. I have to admit though that the new way they did the feu-de-joie was a lot more professional looking.

Pte. Klukie was from my hometown, and his funeral was amazing. There must have been over 300 people there to pay their condolences. Three soldiers from Thunder Bay...These deaths are just emphasizing the impact this war has on Canada and abroad.

Its all over the place, and Its espectially noticable at summer camp this year. In Vernon, they've taken out the PT and its now called "wake-up" routine. All it is, is a 5 minute stretch, 15-20 mins of a game, and another 2 min cool down stretch. Its pathetic. Im so disappointed in the program...

The Cadet program needs a new aspect to it. It needs a new attraction, to get kids want to be involved. You are right, there is only so much one can do to keep the cadets entertained, but there is work to be done.

I've read the CATOs, and I am aware that "boots shall not be modified.." etc. Im not about to actually be that stupid as to acutally keep them on. It was a sarcastic comment people.

Its not just the physical standards that have dropped though. With the newer generations of cadets, I am seeing less and less motivation in them in more than a few aspects. They are hard to part with. I still have mine on my boots, and I really dont want to take them off to go on the plane to camp. I wore them home last year, but I dont think I should push it this year with the security staff, right?

I've never been informed of this. But, do they expect you to look like a muffin man because you didn't. It's almost impossible to  get a decent beret with that stiff, starchy liner in it.

To keep your boots looking amazing, I would suggest polishing them in the same direction (either clock-wise or counter-clockwise). Yes, I have experimented with this enough to notice; sad, I know  :(. And to get your beret formed right, TAKE OUT THE LINER! And from there, wear it in the rain, or...

It slooking good on my uniform with gold buttons and 3 medals now: ANAVET for D&C 2005, Legion Medal of Excellence, and 4 year Service medal. Im going for Maj Gen Howard this year, and Lord Strat, and Ill be all set. :)

How much of a first hand account would it be if you spoke for him Dane? That goes against every history study I've ever done.
