"9 to 5: The spies not in the cold…"

In most cases, I am sure, against their desire :) You are right that bringing the 9 to 5 mentality to the field is bad. Arguably, it`s bad the other way around too. Some field collector coming to a strategic desk might go insane waiting for a critical mass of intelligence to be assessed before...

"9 to 5: The spies not in the cold…"

The CF model has four steps: Direction - Collection - Processing - Dissemination See B-GJ-005-200. I was mostly refering to the fact that some tactical intelligence needs a lesser amount of analysis, which can be conducted locally in a theater environment. I.e. armoured columns moving SSE at...

    chin-ups

If you have access to a gym, there are machines that take some weight off your body weight. You could try those. Other than that, perform series of partial or negative chin ups. See here: http://twentypullups.com/content/what-pull As well, if you are trying pull ups (supination), try chin ups...

Dealing with ethical and/or legal issues in operations

Both of which are pathetic and sad. But then, if your mission goes to poop, you can always mull from your early retirement how that "Chair Force" guy might somehow still have gotten the intelligence right... (not laughing at the Air Force just underlining the irony here...)

"9 to 5: The spies not in the cold…"

And volume-wise  these account for the by far largest share of intelligence. Furthermore, even field-collected intelligence is more often that not useless without processing, review and analysis by, typically, desk analysts. So a balance is necessary.

That is what I could call a "minimalist" swim suit.

Cutting the CF/DND HQ bloat - Excess CF Sr Leadership, Public Servants and Contractors

Nowadays, since SCONDVA in the 90`s, military personel make 8% more for the same task. There certainly isn`t any clothes allowance for civvies, nor tax deductions. The one big thing you get as a civvy is, I`ll give it to you, overtime. On the downside, there`s no such thing as sliders. You are...

Cutting the CF/DND HQ bloat - Excess CF Sr Leadership, Public Servants and Contractors

Consider this: I started in government as a Management Trainee, a program designed to fasttrack you to senior positions. Over three years, received a grand total of two weeks of training, plus a  day Project Management course. that is it. Now no officer gets qualified with less than a year...

Cutting the CF/DND HQ bloat - Excess CF Sr Leadership, Public Servants and Contractors

Exactly what I had in mind. Friends in SJS reported the same situation: same cubicles, same direct reports, same task template, 20k difference in salary. They are not complaining, to be noted, just observing.

One more from the rumour mill

Is this the first rumour you see posted here? Plus last time I posted a rumour it turned out to be true. Plus it`s from someone with access to the info, so I see no reason to doubt it.

Next BIOC or NCGAS for Navy Int reserve

Hem, it`s more the other way around, i.e. RegF go on the Reserve one. George is right: the wait is LONG in Kingston. So long, trade`s closed. As a reservist, truth is, you'll get qualified much faster.

But, plus the military factor. At 100K, that is 8K.

Cutting the CF/DND HQ bloat - Excess CF Sr Leadership, Public Servants and Contractors

Hey I am NOT saying that the cost/benefit ratio of a civilian is better. But typically, "analysts" positions staffed at the LCol level have a good 15-20K difference with their civilian counterparts in SWE.

One more from the rumour mill

Disclaimer: This is a rumour. Nobody freaks out. While it is from a trustworthy source, it was said in passing and I for one cannot verify the info. So it goes. Apparently, the current Strategic Intake Plan is under review and all trades not currently in the red will see their numbers brought...

Next BIOC or NCGAS for Navy Int reserve

The dates posted by George are for RegF courses in Kingston, the dates should still stand for Reserve courses at CFFS(Q).

Next BIOC or NCGAS for Navy Int reserve

There is an NCAGS starting Jan 17. Course sollicitation msg is not out yet. Next BIOC will likely be next summer, but that will fall in Trg Year 2011-2012 and that is not out yet.

Cutting the CF/DND HQ bloat - Excess CF Sr Leadership, Public Servants and Contractors

For discussion, I would suggest: - Corporate memory (no postings) - Specialized fields of expertise: can see that in CDI, Policy, Planning - Traditional civil service fields of expertise: budgetting, policy, liaison with government (PCO, TBS submissions, MCs) - Cheaper: for any given position...

    Married Service Couples [MSC]

You are oh-so right, tree hugger  :P She's not interested  ;D But of course she could do what she wants! Her life is 99.9% her own (hey, we ARE married... which means 50% of mine is mine). As I said though, if 18 months later Lenin was to rise from his mausoleum (you never know) and untold...
