    Canada Post Woes (merged)

If Amazon around here (SE Alberta) is any indication of their service outside of major centres, it will be sub contracted out. They still do a good job, but it is not Amazon. No shiny trucks (rusty Dogde minivan), no 1 day delivery guarantee (2 days instead). And we know how increasing layers...

    Alberta Health corruption scandal

We could try to use the new referendum legislation, but the provincial government has the final say on if one actually takes place, despite the number of signatures, so probably not.

    Canada Post Woes (merged)

I'm in a small town, single family home and I have a community mail box. I was just wondering why Brad Swallows was specifying low population, high density areas when they are the most likely to have community boxes already.

So suburban, single family homes keep door to door? Rural and inner city and row house plebs get community mail?

    Alberta Health corruption scandal

No, this level of corruption is what is expected of the Smith government. So weak and scared in her position she is refusing to call a by election to let the new NDP party leader run.

    2025 Federal Election - 28 Apr 25

From what I've seen conservatives are afraid of change, especially change that doesn't benefit them, even if benefits others. Non-cons are more interested in making the country as a whole better.

Government hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

His pension plan pays around $200 per year of employment per month if you retire at 65. You can retire early and take a penalty. Also, in 2023 the Union contributed an extra 7.5% to current employee pension funds, and 7.5 to pensioners payments. Decent holidays too, a few weeks per year. The...

    Army Reserve Class B

5.2 talks about the contract/route letter duration, not taking weekends off. My experience is dated but class b reservists followed the same schedule as the unit they worked at. Sometimes their home unit works ask them to work there fort a weekend exercise, but they are not required to. The...

    Disability Pension and Retention

OAS and CPP are the reason for the bridge benefit. No shade on you, but why was it that as a Cpl I knew about the bridge benefit but so many of my seniors and peers are firing up the outrage bus when they learn about it. They become strangely silent when told that their pension contributions...

    Disability Pension and Retention

Bridge dissapears at 65. You keep it until then even if you draw CPP at 60, calculate the difference might be worth taking CPP early. Also, you get OAS at 65, right now 727.
