Why have CANEX? (Split fm "Up to 1500 military housing units ...")

George Please don't read me wrong. There are definately a lot of individuals who couldn't budget their way out of a wet paper bag and then go on and whine and cry about their situation. I agree completely. I guess that I was just trying to defend the few who have been diligent, yet still find...

Why have CANEX? (Split fm "Up to 1500 military housing units ...")

That is a big assumption that people are looking for "quality, top of the line" stuff.  Even lower end appliances can add up when you NEED to purchase them. You don't really need a TV to live, but a fridge, stove, washer and dryer are very essential. Try purchasing those 4 appliances, even at a...

Why have CANEX? (Split fm "Up to 1500 military housing units ...")

Successful military operations need to rely heavily on good morale. A young, new soldier/sailor/airman who is struggling financially (and NO, not due to improper budgeting, so don't go there) who is struggling to make payments on an 18% credit loan simply to put appliances in their dwelling will...

Transition Group (Previously JPSU and DCSM)

The application form is a DND 2794 which can be found on the CF Forms Catalogue. Section 1 is simply the member's particulars. Section 2 is completed by the member's CO and then forwarded to the Base/Wing Surgeon for their comments.  The form is then forwarded to the Officer Commanding of the...

New Minister of Veterans Affairs: Mandate Letter, etc.

"Mr. Tim Kerr, a 28-year Veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, is leading the Secretariat and has begun his work in earnest." Does anyone know if this is the same Tim Kerr who was the CO of HMCS Algonquin back in 2011-2012?

    Vac claim. Questions

BinRat55 is correct. Contact the VAC Ombudsman. The number is on their website. I also have a member who was released back in August 2015 and has heard nothing. I advised that he contact the Ombudsman and he informed me that he got some answers.

    The WTF News Files

Why? Why do people think that this is something to do? Way too much unproductive time on their hands, I guess.

ROTP at Civilian University 2004 - 2018 [Merged]

As long as you hold a Queen's Commission at some point, it is not re-issued. I released in 1994 as a Reg F Captain and re-enlisted in 2009 and was sworn in as an A/SLt (2Lt).

    Any favourite BMQ memories?

I did mine back in 86 in Chilliwack. My favorite was forgetting my name tag (something we all did at least once) and when the Sgt asked me where it was, my mouth worked before my brain did and I replied "don't need it sarge, I memorized it". At grad, he told me that he had the toughest time...

:salute: Thanks for the plug. You are so correct. Earning the trust of the Captain and the NOPQ board was certainly no cake walk.

And not all Captains (or Cpls) who are content in their position are bags of crap. I know of a couple of both Capts and Cpls who are very good at their job (and happy in it), but may not be good at the next rank. Performance in current rank and potential in next rank are two different things...

New Help for Veterans to Transition into Civilian Life

The staff at IPSCs are constantly being painted in poor light, stating that they are not taking care of our ill & injured. The piece that no one seems to mention is that the staff are ONLY involved with the administrative process and zero to do with the medical side (be it physical or mental...

    Changes in Senior Appointments

Some good moves in there (at least for the Navy), VAdm Norman as VCDS & (soon to be) VAdm Lloyd as CRCN stand out to me.
