    Worth the Wait

Way to go Park. Good luck on the retest.  Remember, no coffee that morning to assist with your heart rate.  Just like Chrome, I am trying to get in regular Navy and will be 42 at end of Sept. Let's hear it for the 'mature' applicants. Steve :cdn:

Tattoo Thread - including current policy [MERGED]

Hands? That could be a problem for me.  In anticipation of joining the Navy, I advised my wife that I would not be wearing my wedding band while on board ship for safety reasons.  So we went and got wedding bands tatooed on our fingers.  They are a simple celtic knot pattern.  I guess that I...

    MARS III dates for 2009/1010?

Dielsel Not exactly sure, but my guess would be that we would be placed on some form on PAT or OJT.  Once you are in, then you continue to get paid, regardless of whether you are on course or not. Steve :cdn:

Verification of Former Service (VFS) [Merged]

Update: Short update here.  Called the RC on Tuesday and they are still waiting for my med docs to come in.  Been a little over a month now, so hoping that it will be soon.  The Sergeant said that he would make come calls to see if he can get a little move on it so that we can still do the...

Great work MrJimi! Keep it up.  I am trying to find a 400m track around here, but no luck so far.  All I have is a cheap pedometer and sometimes it works, but I can't be sure of it's accuracy.  My running has not improved that much, but I am now up to 25 sit-ups and they were always my weakest...

    Discussion Regarding CFRCs

You are absolutely correct that, unfortunatley, there is sometimes misinformation and that is a sad thing and can be very upsetting to those who join thinking one thing, only to find out that it was not correct. Maybe putting a caveat on statements could be a good idea. "Currently it is easy to...

    Discussion Regarding CFRCs

If someone wants 'IN" bad enough, I would think that hey would do more research about it and not rely on only one avenue (recruiters).  The CF has a great website with lot's of information about the various trades. Google is our friend. There are lots of sites with information (this one, for...

    What is your military status?

Ex-Air Force Transportation Officer. Retired in 1994 and am now trying to get back in as MARS officer.  Feeling like this will be the best decision I have made since getting out. :cdn:

    Tips on contacting "your" Recruiter

I was given a business card with all of the necessary information. As well, when I did speak to someone different, I made certain to write their name down for future refernce.  I would think that anyone who is serious about getting in would take these types of steps. It shows a level of...

    Tips on contacting "your" Recruiter

If I could be so bold as to add one as well.  Even though I am in the process of getting back in, I was previously in the military.  My advise would be to ensure that you treat those members of the RC that you speak to as if you were already in the military. By that, I mean with the upmost...

Verification of Former Service (VFS) [Merged]

...and the day just keeps getting better. I stopped at the new Sobeys (grocery store for those of you on the west coast, like save-on-foods) near my house this morning and guess who was there recruiting? You guessed it..the Navy.  Got to talk to some MARS officers and see some really awesome...
