We're going to be. Canadians are polling support for the party that put us there over the last 10 years. No pipelines, no tankers, industrial carbon tax... take your pick. They won't remove that stuff either, they owe their support to the true believers of green shift.
Much like Portgual, it wasn't a real cancellation but effectively a restart on a process we all knew would select the F-35 anyway. We'd already have a few squadrons equipped if they didn't politically punt the decision because they hate defense spending.
Folks, we've got 2 threads going talking about the same subjects. I'm locking this up until there's a writ dropped and we can lock the other one. Please just quote post and drag any pending replies over to the Liberal Minority Government Thread: Liberal Minority Government 2021 - ????

We can't afford to light money on fire. Cutting the order is a stupid COA and will result in a Lockmart lawsuit that we'll lose. If we want more aircraft, buy a 2nd order from some other country and actually increase our capability instead of cheaping out.
How many extra 0s to the contract after Lockmart sues us for canceling on it? This is EH101 all over again and is absolutely a cut our nose off to spite our face. The F35 will be the best fighter for NORAD and other use cases for decades to come. Gripen, Rafale and the like are garbage compared...
We shouldn't. The US could care less about our military procurements, it's a drop in the bucket for their FMS. We'd shoot ourselves in the foot to get an inferior aircraft that we'd be stuck flying for 50 years.
