Starting a Career as an ATIS Tech

If you meet the requirements, you'll be offered further terms of service IAW CMP Instr 05/05.  For some reason, I'm having trouble googlizing this or I'd paste in a link.  Find it and read it, if you really want to know how it works.  Basically there is a sequence by occupation that begins with...

Starting a Career as an ATIS Tech

He doesn't need to elect CRA 60, because he came in after the cut off of 1 July 2004. However, you are quite correct that the CF is not obligated to offer anyone TOS that take them to their CRA be it 55 or 60, and that those who were enrolled before 1 July 2004 don't necessarily get another 5...

    Just need some advice, please!

Sure.  Sometimes three.  Rarely more, though.  Best of luck.

    Just need some advice, please!

Make sure you know the information that you were provided about your trades.  Get a good night's sleep.  Be confident.

Previously discharged from ROTP - 5 yrs later, questions on re-enrollment

Agree.  This shouldn't necessarily mean a longer wait than what's presently expected in most trades.  A waiver for an item 4 release is usually looked at by a CO rather than going higher.

    Eye exam? possibly wrong?

Entry standards vary by occupation.  Also, personnel can sometimes be retained in their occupation if their vision eventually falls below the entry standard.

    Eye exam? possibly wrong?

Because you don't see at least 20/200 without your glasses to be a V3 (and/or other calculations to do with your lens rx).

    5D Release

That I'm not sure of exactly, sorry.  He's a pretty busy guy, so it doesn't happen over night.

    5D Release

Yeah, you heard wrong.  That guy is Gen Natynczyk.  I probably wouldn't call.  Let the chain of command do its work.

    Joining The Infantry

The recruit school doesn't pick anyone. They take the recruits they get. Right now it's competitive to get an interview let alone an offer in many trades. Education is one way an applicant can distinguish him or her self.

    Joining The Infantry

This isn't sound advice. TSpoon, all other things being equal, yes you will have a better shot if you upgrade your education.

MilHist: The Military History app for iOS

Cool, Mike. How convenient, as I just unboxed my new iPhone.  First purchased app.  :)  Is it possible to make the day's events show up in the notification centre? :salute:

The utility of three military colleges, funded undergrad degrees; Officer trg & the need for a degre

Maybe?  Or, it could just obscure the real costs to the taxpayer behind subsidy provided through other channels and layers of government.

The utility of three military colleges, funded undergrad degrees; Officer trg & the need for a degre

Sure looks like it to me: Most in service applicants end up being BMOQ bypasses (so also no need for anything that comes before it), and often have the required environmental training.  Usually they have some or all of their OPME credits as well.  The ROTP candidates usually do most of the...

The utility of three military colleges, funded undergrad degrees; Officer trg & the need for a degre

I doubt that an extra year of basic training for in service selection plans or RMC ROTP students would be useful in any way. Shouldn't the selection process itself take care of this?  Not saying that it does necessarily, but it should. I doubt a lot of these civilian universities will grant...

    RMC, What should I do?

You need to schedule some time with your guidance counsellor and a recruiter.  And, whether your average is 70 or 100, you should still have a plan B.
