I wonder what this little spat between the UAE and Canada will do for those other Canadians working in the UAE. There are 27,000 Canadians and about 200 Canadian companies. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next few weeks.
A spotty work history will not effect your application. During your interview you will be asked about it. Be honest as to why you quit or were fired. If you do not want the CF to contact your current employer put a tick in the box on the BackCheck form. You can use your supervisor as a...
Man those were the days. Back when no matter what or how many I ate I still fit in my dungarees!! Now it's an apple fritter and and hour on the treadmill!
I am currently working in the UAE. In my job I require a translator to pass on info to students. Last week one of them, originally from Jordan, came to me all excited that his son had made it to the University of Waterloo for a PHD and was settling in. I said to him that he must be making good...
It will depend on what school and what country your diplomas are from as to whether you need to get an equivalency for them. Generally but not always, schools in the US or UK are taken as equal to Canadian. Again usually but not always Take all your paperwork in and let them decide.
Never heard of a second interview. When you are sworn in that's your occupation until you apply for and are granted an occupation transfer. (good luck getting one of those)
You can live anywhere you want. Most students live in residence if they have it if not they get an apartment close by. Your going to be making pretty good coin and no tuition. You make the call.
A PLAR will be done and the Career Shop will determine what you need to do. If you are going back in as a OCdt then you'll have to do BMOQ. Sometimes if you've done ILQ then they will wave the need to do BMOQ.
Good luck
Whole heartedly agree with that!! Did a lot of "unmanly" things for the sake of my kids during the short stints we had alongside. (thankfully there were no pictures except in my kids minds!!)
When I was working in the RC in Toronto I had to counsel a young person because they were unsuccessful on the CFAT. THey scored so low they didn't qualify for anything. I told them the same thing I told you, internet and chapters. They came back 6 months later and told me they bought a book...
Best thing to do is go into the RC and talk to a Recruiter. They'll be able to tell you what's hot and what's not. Also most centres have at least one sailor on staff to regale you with tales of stormy seas, foreign ports and chowder on Friday!!
If you go on line and punch in "IQ Test" or "Aptitude Test" you should find a lot of different tests. You can go to chapters and spend $30-$40 on a book on aptitude tests. It depends on how much you think you need to study or how badly you want in. In my experience for CO-OP 50% failed the CFAT...
THe Co-op interview will take about 15 minutes. It's more to confirm the info in your file and to make sure you understand what it is to be in the CF. Don't sweat the interview and don't BS. Concentrate on the CFAT. There are more than enough threads on here for you to look at on CFAT.
Is this really worth answering. You wrote, you failed you were advised to up grade in order to pass next time. Does this look like a no brainer to anyone else?
