Whither the Royal Canadian Legion? Or RCL Withers?

The VAC will be used as a political tool, for a party with a political agenda. Its not going to change, I am beinga  realist here. The current one cleared with full support of the Parliament. Even with the law suit, the PM putting a new figurehead into place, and the spoiled little boy trudeau...

What's the likelihood of ground forces being deployed in Iraq to combat ISIS?

With what money? Multiple bases have infrastrutcture that is falling apart right now, there are cutbacks everywhere, and anywhere.

    Vac claim. Questions

I dont get how they justified the lump sum payments. Although even with my application in, and not quite released(7 days away) I was contacted by a Case Worker, wrt to them still being able and willing to pay for rehabilitation, which boggles my mind because a decision has yet to be reached...

Fantino in/out of VAC: changes in DM/other staff (merged)

I am all for using contacts to get what you want quicker or for advice. Good for those people, but those that dont have that option, like myself whose file was sent to the wrong address, and then in turn they requested the wrong med file somehow, and now the request has had to go back through...

Fantino in/out of VAC: changes in DM/other staff (merged)

I fail too see how changing Fantino will allow for positive changes to be made. He was made out to be a fall guy for a system that the GoC wanted to change because of cutbacks and budgets. How is the the new Minister going to change it. Not going to happen.

Op IMPACT: CAF in the Iraq & Syria crisis

I may be wrong in this- This ISIL/ISIS war, is it not more traditional warfare. Enemies more clearly marked, for the most part, clear and definitive lines drawn? If we start handing Armoured vehicles over, the Iraqis/Kurds start to take ground back at even faster rate with our vehicles...

RCAF Leather Jacket (merged discussion and mocking)

It looks like its from Giant Tiger. At that price you should be getting 5 of them.

RCAF Leather Jacket (merged discussion and mocking)

Saw a Pilot wearing this today- The only thing that was missing was him wandering around with a white scarf and two stage hands carrying around fans to make sure his scarf is blowing at all times.

    "Unionizing" the CF (merged)

As stated previously; A member feels he was wronged the member can put in a grievance, or call the Ombudsman. The Ombudsman is the uncle that sits in the corner asks why are you crying, says ok, and tells you to go back to play. I have yet to see the Ombudsmen step in and fix a situation...

Op IMPACT: CAF in the Iraq & Syria crisis

If anyone hasnt seen it, There is a frontline documentary on Netflix right now about Iraq, and how and why things have ended up the way they have become, also one about Syria too, I think its called Losing Iraq. It was pretty informative for someone who didnt know much of the history in Iraq...

Army Communication & Information Systems Specialists (Sig Op, Lineman and LCIS Amalgamation)

This all or nothing will never happen. If he thinks its justifiable he might not fully understand the job scope of each trade......then its back at square one, and puts forward a larger problem.

Denial of Access to MIR By Unit

I am all for discipline when it is required. Do not call me on that, extra training for sure. There are those that read one or two CANFORGENS that yammer on with no idea. To a certain extent I think "Extra Training" should be brought back instead of whipping out a charge sheet, we waste alot of...

Op IMPACT: CAF in the Iraq & Syria crisis

I was thinking this. Would you trust them with laser guided weapons and target tagging equipment. I wouldn't. I realise that the ISF is better trained the ANP and ANA and are a much more independent force, they still need guidance and direction. Part of being mentors and assistant providers is...

Denial of Access to MIR By Unit

Lower ranks 99.99% of the time have their ideas and concepts scrapped. Dealing with this in house during an O group would of only put the member in the line of fire from their CoC. Being new to a unit and unsure of the boundaries or who to approach the member did the right thing, asked and...

Denial of Access to MIR By Unit

To me its good news. Some CoCs walk around with hard ons thinking they are special and they choose to do things their own way with the their own rules. Just shows. Some CoCs are out for themselves and not for their troops, and the need a wake up call.

Denial of Access to MIR By Unit

That is what phones are for.... or a smoke signal. Their partner should know who to call if its serious. If your troops are that incompetent, it might not be a troop issue, you may need to loosen the chain and let them fail. We are trained as adults, treat your troops like it.

Commentary "Why No One Should Join the Canadian Forces"

Whole nation not voting would never happen. As a nation the only thing we riot and protest it seems is hockey losses and celebratory riots for hockey victories. That's the organizational capacity we have when it comes to nation wide events.

Denial of Access to MIR By Unit

99% of the sick parades I have seen have a 0730 opening time. As I said, its courtesy. Regardless a call or a text message, even a smokle signal to inform. That being said, once people return to work and that member is not there, then start inquiring. Most people with a head on their shoulders...

Denial of Access to MIR By Unit

Ran into this during a PLQ in petawawa, and we were briefed by the Base Surgeon at the time on the matter; 1. You dont have to tell them you are going to the MIR, telling them has become a common courtesy nowadays to inform them as to your whereabouts. Upon return to work tthat is when you give...
