Speaking on behalf of all the young fellas on here; No >:D insurance >:D company is cheap. Only 6 more years to go before the insurance companys treat me like a human being ;D.
It is disgusting Mich but it's the truth. Lets say you have 15 minutes to eat, you can "choose" to leave the line and go wash your hands than upon re-entry into the line you see another platoon of 60 has swooped your place in line; you just lost 5 minutes off your lunch. It's worse in the...
Sounds like you're having a great time. The weapons will be a pain as you'll be cleaning them all the time, get a box of q-tips to help with the cleaning. As for being sick, everyone gets sick on basic; it's the combination of living with 50 or 60 people and never having time to wash your hands...
Ah yes "sand"...I forgot about that one ;D Those doing basic in Borden will really have to clean their floors. Sand will get everywhere, especialy after the confidence course, and wassaga beach. I find it best to rinse the bottom of your boots right after coming back from the confidence course...
Now I was once one of those people being fooled into spending twice as much money to bring 2 of everything. ;D....It just isn't really necessary, atleast if you're Borden anyways; I don't know how the show runs in St.Jean. Just save your money and keep your things clean. Ex. No point in buying 2...
Agreed. A full nights sleep will usualy take care of your "energy" concerns. When I did bmq some of the guys popped caffeine pills during the 36h exercise but I found them unneccessary.
The canex does have some pretty nice Navy clothing but their prices scare me. I'm happy with my platoon clothing for now. Perhaps one day we will grow so large that we will need our own NAVY.CA ;D, one can only hope.
Well I can't give you specifics on the grad pictures as I didn't buy any except for a group picture which was $15. The platoon clothing was just customized shirts, hoodies, shorts, and jogging pants for our platoon. The instructors told us to come up with a design on paper for the clothing and...
I just graduated basic a little under 2 weeks ago. As for our platoon we only got weekday base leave when they wanted money from us; ex. platoon clothing, grad pictures.
Yes you can have a phone after week 4 but only on weekends, you would have to put the phone back in civie lockup before monday. Mp3 players follow the same rule. You can always risk it and keep those items in your personal box but if they check your box during an inspection then you're screwed.
Yep me and Pendant were both in Alpha in the summer, different platoons though, my platoon had easier and cooler instructors however ;D Tips; watchout for skunks while doing firepicket duty at night, I had fire picket the night before grad parade and had to be extra careful where I walked. Also...
I'll be gone before you guys get up here but good luck anyway. I graduate on thursday ;D; just in time as my body is falling apart. Words of advice; take care of yourself; injuries can occur at anytime, get used to doing things fast as it'll be difficult your first few weeks to meet the timings...
I'm on bmq right now in Borden going to week 8. All I can say is try to get in the best shape you can because your body will fall apart as the weeks go on. The running isn't a really a problem; you'll only go on like 6 runs your whole course, starting at 3k going to 6k. Our pt started week 2 and...
