    Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP)-RMC 2000 - 2018 [Merged]

Good luck to everyone, I hope you get the call! (And that there's one left for me haha)

    A Question or Two

I thought it was a pretty well known abbreviation: Your mileage may vary.

    A Question or Two

It was definitely easier than those for me. But YMMV.

    A Question or Two

Since no one gets their scores on the CFAT and that discussing the questions inside the CFAT proper is forbidden, it's a bit hard to answer your question, so my official advice will be the oft repeated: Ask your recruiting center. My personal and unofficial take will be: The spatial reasoning...

    Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP)-RMC 2000 - 2018 [Merged]

I fence at a very competitive club in Quebec City (STH), amongst which are some people fencing for CISM (Which has a fencing team). Apparently the Kingston team has a good level, but it's certainly possible to join. Having talked to the Master at Arms of the Kingston club, they certainly take...

    It's been a long road...

Your experience has some common points with mine as well, thanks a lot for sharing, and I hope everything goes well for you, you seem very dedicated. I'm a bit worried though, the first thing I said I wanted to be when I was a kid was a Russian General... :P

    Picking your trade

Just replace "Canadian Forces" with any other job. Is the advice sound? If it is, then no problem, if it's not, then disprove it. That's how logic works. Either way, It wasn't my intent to start a flame war on who is or isn't allowed to give advice, so I'll shut up now.

    Picking your trade

I don't see what's wrong about sharing the knowledge I've gleaned from friends who are in the militaries of several nations. Did I say anything wrong? If I didn't and you're attacking my credentials, that's an ad hominem or an appeal to accomplishment...

    Running in boots?

I can't answer for the boots, but adding weight is good. I would however rather advise a backpack (Well adjusted) or a weighted vest. They will balance the weight better, thus making all your muscles work, and reducing the risk of injury. Another good ressource I've found for push ups is this...

    Picking your trade

Trust me, you say that, but you wouldn't. Maybe for a few year, 1-2 terms of service, but you'd get fed up of it. If you can't see yourself doing 10-15 years in those trades, then don't enlist, simple as that. And believe me, 10-15 years is a long bloody time doing a job you don't enjoy. Many...

    Picking your trade

Taken from: http://forums.army.ca/forums/threads/103957.0.html If I don't get an offer for either Artillery or Infantry, I'm enlisting in university either way and applying again the next year. This is your career, for now the CF might seem novel and exciting, everything may seem wonderful, but...

    Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP)-RMC 2000 - 2018 [Merged]

I submited my application on January 15 and I managed to do all my tests in time for the first selection. Would have had about a month loose in fact, if there hadn't been an administrative error where they forgot to contact me to tell me my file was transferred to my CRFC. Hell, two years ago...

    Interview advice (merged)

Mine, for ROTP Artillery, took around 1 hour. Then I talked some more with the officer and signed the non-discrimination documents and other policy docs.

    April 27th BMOQ

Damn, you're correct, my bad, I didn't think to check the codes.

    April 27th BMOQ

I think it's just a typo, you clearly see May 27 being listed before May 6, so they probably put May as the month instead of April :P

    Trade Suggestions?

Well, a year ago when I first applied for ROTP I was in luck and my recruiter had put in something like 20 years in the Infantry, so he gave me plenty of little morsels haha, even though I decided to switch to artillery. If you are interested in the combat arms, then I suggest you search in the...

    Trade Suggestions?

http://www.forces.ca/en/home/ Go there, watch the videos and read the descriptions for the different trades. Of course, It's made for recruiting purposes, so you obviously don't get the day to day grit of it, but once you've found a few trades you're interested in, you can go talk to your local...

    Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP)-RMC 2000 - 2018 [Merged]

As for your grades, these are good grades, but like everyone worth their salt will tell you here, It's all about how you compare to the others. If there's 7 jobs open as Engineer for ROTP and you're the 8th one...well you won't get in. As to how you can make your application more competitive...

M777 Video Marines or Canadians ?

I read your first post, thanks a lot for pointing that out. I would never have noticed all those problems even with the research I did on the M777. I guess it all comes down on the urgency of the task at hand. If they were direct firing because their position was under attack, that might have...

M777 Video Marines or Canadians ?

Nice story Old Sweat haha. 6 RPM for a M777 is pretty impressive, though if one were to be nitpicky, the 6th round went off at 1m03 haha. Still, superb fire drills, I'm really hoping I get to command a battery of those bad boys someday, they could be firing a 12 pounder and still kick ass :D
