According to the link below, the range is actually somewhat higher (1200 KMs, or about 650 NM). I think ours have the larger tanks and from what I have heard quite a number of features that were subsequently incorporated into the Block 2 versions...
I would say this is a very positive report on the F35s first "combat" deployment.

Interesting - the Law of Unintended Consequences at work. Not having served aboard a ship, I can imagine a healthy mess life is good for morale. Is that a concern at all?
Waiting to see if JSS1 (Protecteur) gets launched this month, as promised. There seems to be very little in the way of updates available for this program. Perhaps someone familiar with this program can chime in and give us an early Christmas present? :)
There are a few things that stand out. Based on the slim profile of the weapon, and the relative lack of muzzle rise, I would guess this is a .22. Also, though I agree it was targeted, I'm not sure how professional this guy is. If he was, he would have tested that pistol before using it, and...
Hyundai and Hanwha have made up, apparently in large measure to help secure the Canadian order.

Is it really that bad? I spoke to one of the test and eval pilots at Cansec a few years ago, and his take was that is was just "different", and people had to get used to that fact. His take was that it was better in "almost" every way than the Buffalo. I realize that's the pilot's perspective...
Cautionary tale re. the cost of nuclear subs. Not surprising in the slightest. Another reason to stay far away from Pillar 1 membership.

This is interesting. Korean K9s modified for cold weather operations in Finland. Not sure where Canada sits re. wheeled versus tracked, but this looks like a solid platform. For those worried about the supply chain and inter-operability (valid concerns), the K9 is in service with several NATO...
Interesting. Vice-Admiral Topshee is visiting Hanwha.

I'm not aware of him having visited any of the other potential suppliers, but perhaps this is the beginning of a tour to do so?
This is encouraging. Two key takeaways: 1) TR3 is essentially complete, and 2) The Israelis have achieved an availability rate of 88% on their F35s.

I agree with pretty much every thing you have said about the public service, but on the issue of Canadians and their willingness to support increased spending, polling suggests they have in fact "come around":

That's awesome. Make an enemy of that big friendly country to the North. Can't argue with that kind of logic. I'm totally in favour of spending more on defence, but Jesus. That kind of rhetoric will not make it easier to sell this to the general public, who, by all accounts, are actually coming...
