George, I just want to be clear.....I'm fully aware of the road conditions in Afghanistan...I lived there in the early 70s ;D......but if you take the Lts comment at face value( which I don't) it can be read as basically saying that the LAV3s are only suitable for North American standard roads...

True...but as we all know, many places don't pay a liveing wage as they SHOULD...and if they did then  alot of people wouldn't or couldn't eat there because it would be too pricey agreed...if they are robots....

......I think in a lot of places they get paid as little as the management can get away with...so they do need those tips to live on. I doubt they would rough you up....but I wouldn't count on good service the next time you go there. No...you can refuse to pay the gratuity if the food was...

I usually leave 15%-20% of the bill in a restuarant or bar.....I''ll up it a bit if the service/food is really excellent , lower it a bit if it isn't quite up to scratch......if either the food or service is really bad I won't leave anything but I will inform the wait staff and/or management why...

Guys....I don't consider myself wise enough to be able to form an opinion on this issue except to say 2 things...(1).strictly from a flying passengers point I'd have to say Air Canada,as a crown corporation, was a far better operation than it is now and (2) nowadays  I get real nervous about...

Quite frankly a country that isn't willing to at least try to defend itself doesn't deserve to be free and independent. Sadly that looks like the way Canada is heading :-[

E-Town....just to clear something up for you......there are cobras in Afghanistan....actually there are 2 species there ...Indian Cobra(Naja naja) and the Central Asian or Oxus Cobra(Naja Oxianus).....and both species can be found in the areas around Kabul. Cheers Gene
