    Interesting..

Well they just gave 8 of us the news of our simulator results. 6 out of 8 passed pilot. 4 out of 8 passed NAV. Most nerveracking experiance EVER. I think I'm still shaking. Now all we have to do is turn out heads and cough for the medical in toronto.

    Waiting for Aircrew

I'm currently waiting to be given the green light for the Feb. 20th to 25th ACS... Seems they need 4 people to make it run, but they are having problems filling it? It being Wednesday the 8th today I'd say they are cutting it a little close on the weeks notice... but maybe that's because I was...

Britain unveils its new plastic tank.

Monocoque is sort of like a unibody car.. the frame/body is all one peice. Instead of designing a ridgid frame, and hanging everything else off it.. the body is designed to be the frame itself. The best example and most commonly cited Monocoque is formula1 karts.. they are carbon fiber, and...

Hearing (Merged) Including Hearing Tests and Hearing Categories

Good to keep a record of your hearing tests. I know for my previous job they brought the hearing truck around every year and after failing the first test miserably, it was a huge relief to find out that it improved slowly over the next 3 years because I started to make an effort and wear hearing...

List the occupations you wish to apply for...

I just went over this in the interview. I had Pilot as #1, and Armour as #2. They asked, if you get a call after the slection board saying you had armour, would you take the position within 24 hours? My answer was pretty simple... No. Pilot is a first choice, Armour is a low second. I'd...

    Testing and more testing?

Thanks for the answers guys. I've got my aditional medicals tomorrow, and then my interview/pt on next thrusday. Crossing my fingers that it all works out and I'm on my way to St. Jean soon enough. :) Kincanucks, what your saying is that in scoring high enough on the CFAT, I have "qualified"...

    Testing and more testing?

Well I know one guy left early because of drug use, and another guy failed the part 1 of the medical and left... so it would seem they are fairly efficient at not spending resources and time on people who don't meet the mark in the preliminary portions of testing. So I'm crossing my fingers that...

    Testing and more testing?

We didn't get shown anything like that after our test... I guess I'll have to call tomorrow and see if I can find out.

    Testing and more testing?

So I guess this is kind of a question about the efficiency of the CF. I did my aptitude test today and when it was all over the invigilator came back and we worked through some paperwork. She said, "The fact that I haven't asked anyone to leave is good, it means you all qualified for atleast...

F117s on the ground in Abbotsford

My dads plane was just opposite those on Friday. They actually flew one of them in the show on Friday... (Whoa Quiet) and then put it back on display. There were 2 armed American gaurds for each plane, and a double fence deal around each one. They also had special demands and such for moving...

Why do CF Pilots need a degree?

Not sure how this fits in, but if you can, try and find/watch/download any of the documentaries by journalists in Iraq. Watching the journalist interview Enlisted infantry, and then Commissioned infantry officers in the Marines is like night and day. The enlisted personel comment about how they...

    Fun stuff?

Space? Faffe? Sorry, new here. I actually just searched and found a little bit of informaiton, but most of it wasn't Airforce based, and stated that most courses, (even driving) were hard to get for officers. What exactly would the Airforce have me doing in the "downtime" between the second...

    Fun stuff?

I know that while your waiting for assignment, or flight training, or any other thing you need to wait for, the AirForce likes to get you to do more training... but i was just wondering if there's a list of the stuff you can train for, or if it's fairly limited? fairly unlimited? I'm pretty...

New guy, introduction and a question or two.

Excellent information guys. Now some more questions. ;D #1) Deployment: how long are standard deployments for you guys, and how often do you get to go on them? I know navy guys mostly, and they head out for 6 months, then in for 6 months, but it's almost constant. Is active duty in foreign...

New guy, introduction and a question or two.

Thanks for clarifying the contract info. :) As for the picture... awsome, the only thing I'm concerned about is how flat it is. ;D I don't think I've ever been ANYWHERE that's that flat. Is it true you can see your dog run away for 3 days? :p

New guy, introduction and a question or two.

Thanks for the reply Zoomie, how's Comox? (in general.  ;D) I heard that assignment to the SAR squadron is a PITA.. true? I would take whatever I can get inregards to flying. Jets would be just plain cool. Helicopters facinate me, and multi engine seems like it would be fun too. You answered...

New guy, introduction and a question or two.

Howdy folks. Just found this forum, (well found it before and assumed that it was exclusively army) we all know what assuming does. Makes an ass-of-u-and-me. ;) Anyways, I've been thinking very seriously over the last 3 months about becoming a pilot for the Canadian forces. I've always enjoyed...
