Impressive. RM --> MP. OBE, MC and now DSO. Lots of post-nominals.

I watched the first few minutes of the candidates' forum (on CPAC) but didn't stay much past the introduction of the participants. Suffice to say, Poilievre was the most polished but perhaps that might be a negative; the expression "carpetbagger" comes to mine. I had hoped that a couple of the...
While the number of candidates in this by-election is unusual and has required an adaptation of the ballot to fit the situation, none of the changes have resulted in any procedures that are not already covered in election workers guidelines or the training provided by Elections Canada, with the...

GATINEAU, Monday, July 28, 2025
As a result of the high number of candidates in Battle River–Crowfoot (Alberta), electors voting at advance or election day polls will vote using an...
Did Poilievre participate in any local debates in his Carleton riding during the general election?
With reports that 10 candidates will participate in this evening's debate in Camrose, I had been hoping that at least one long ballot type would show up for added controversy, but from the...

Making use of loopholes (imprecise languages?) in Alberta election law to register a political party (or change the name of an existing party) with a name that would be easier to sell to voters is one thing. It's another thing if it's a couple of MLAs booted from the party under which they...
And in the machinations of Alberta politics, the latest ploy to revive at least the title of "Progressive Conservative".

My first thought when I looked at the list of candidates was, surely, the long ballot crowd would have found at least one prankster with the surname Poilievre to run. Turns out it's not that common a name - according to one genealogy website there are only 28 in Canada.
Yes, by all means, scroll down to POL

I was going to comment about how it's nice to see a group properly shaved, but the Major and the MWO couldn't wait until retirement to get into beard mode. And I thought that relaxed grooming standards was aimed at attracting and keeping a younger demographic.
From a poll supervisor point of view it's not as "nuanced" as you may think. It's very clear that political campaigning including material that identifies candidates, parties, or political positions are not permitted at the polling place. "Place" does not mean just the room in which you find...
While we contend with generally anonymous individuals whose contribution to the electoral process is to add another name to a single ballot, the mothership of parliamentary politics have these legitimate candidates:
Count Binface
AI Steve
Can you connect the dots for me? If your proposition is that a potential candidate has to demonstrate that he/she was actively campaigning prior to the deadline for registering (and subsequently receiving confirmation) as a candidate, how does that square with the requirement to be a confirmed...
