Really that just sounds like Barney's "Every-one wins! Hurray!"

    Tech Advisors

Tech Advisors in BC give Technical advice on things like websites, computers and such :p Cadet Advisors, or Training Advisors are what we call the support people, and they are excellent. We don't have one but Corps that do seem to be very happy with it. The one suggestion I have is realize...

    Cadets in Maroon Berets??

2551 - they changed their affiliation as was mentioned to PPCLI, but retained badges for some time after the disbandment of the unit. Most Cadet Corps live longer than their AfUs in the case of disbandment, look at Vancouver's Irish Fusiliers. The Cadets lasted almost 50 years more !

Is blackdown the only camp that does not issuse camp pin?

I was just about to post the same thing :p National camps are different from other CSTCs in their mandate for bilingualism (having Francophone companies as I'm sure some one will post is different. Thats done on need rather than through regulation), the budget structure, support from the ACL...

    No more Regimental Shoulder Flashes

There was a Cadet uniform review a few years ago, my uncle was on it. They decided not to go forward with it, but it did launch the current programme of issuing PT Gear at the LHQ. The only changes that come our way until 2009 I'm sure will be minor if any happen at all (and I'm fairly confident...

    Lifeguard badge???

I think the badge went the wayside in 1991 with the programme changes. That's just a sudo-educated guess after reading some old training files from the late eighties last night.

    Lifeguard badge???

Just like I said, it's not discontinued. I've met about 10-15 Cadets with it. Simply send in your qualifcation document, signed by the CO to the Region. Just sounds like your CO talked to someone who didn'tr know what they were talking about - would you like my to take a pic of Cadets with the...

    Lifeguard badge???

What was lifeguard camp - a CLI? I've never even heard of it! Wasn't held at Vernon, at least as a self-standing course at least as far as I have read anywhere.

    Lifeguard badge???

You need a photocopy of the certificate signed by your CO sent to the Region. They send the badge. We did it two months ago for a Cadet, only took about two weeks, I was impressed.

    Rank and Postion Conflict

Jacking up an Officer is probably slightly strong language :P however, I see where you are coming from for sure - often times the RSM has a better idea of whats actually going on than some of the junior officers; same at the CSTC with CSMs vs. Pl Comds and AsstPlComds.

    Rank and Postion Conflict

Im not sure of your position with in the Corps, if it's possible try and discuss it with the problem people, or at least those that you can. If thats not possible and the problem is truly creating a problem for Cadets and Training with in the Corps obviously go to the officers. There is no...

16 a hard age to get into camp? True of False?

Yuppers, thats a national standard b/c of work laws... apparently it used to vary by CSTC? I'm not convinced that is true, though

16 a hard age to get into camp? True of False?

We were short staffed last year, and I would be shocked if we weren't again this year. HQ by summer's end was at 1/2 strength. Few Cadets staff at 18.... ussually CSMs and 10-15 of the WOs. There was 1 18 year old Sgt and 2 MCpls, may have been more but thats all I know of.

how old were you when you joined cadets

13, turned 14 about 3 weeks later though.

16 a hard age to get into camp? True of False?

Half of Charlie was 16, half the staff Cadets in the battalion were 16. There are not many 16 year-olds in CLI, 17 is generally the cut-off age. Pioneer was full of 16 year juvenile delinquents.

what do you do with cadets that are forced to come?

Don't make them the enemy, so many times I see the Cadet thats made it clear they don't want to be there made the enemy by their NCOs, and even Officers at times. Give the Cadet a sense of belonging and purpose. I'm not saying have a group hug but use exciting events, competitions etc to build...

    Best summer at camp?

Leadership and Challenge was by far the best experience I've ever had in Cadets. After the first week I dropped by "exchange-reeject" attitude and really embraced what is probably among the best treaining supplied in the CCM. The instructors, mainly civilian contractors did an awesome job and I...

    Combats Needed - Please Help

Most of my Cadets in the Corps have it, the CF released 2000 pairs in Novermber/Decemberish; it was in most of CanWests major papers I believe, at least in the west. Try searching Edmonton Journal if you feel so inclined... (I tried after I posted this initially and had no success, however the...
