    Remembering 9-11 (merged anniversary thread)

Ahhh, my good friend Journeyman.  Living up to your reputation of waiting for others to disagree with me before adding on. Techno, Your core argument is flawed.  22,000 Japanese Canadians were interred.  14,000 of them were born in Canada. On February 24, 1942 an Order-in-Council passed under...

    Remembering 9-11 (merged anniversary thread)

The Germans made mass decisions based on race and not individual guilt/innocence, and so did we.  If you want to call me immature, ignorant of history, or even retarded because I pointed that out, then that's quite alright.  I stated there was a difference because we did not kill them all, but...

    Call for contributions

There could be a Crowd Confrontation Op that you need to buy batons/shields for. I notice that the C3 was on one of the earlier missions, perhaps the Timberwolf or MacMillan .50 cal in later missions if they aren't there already.  With those could also require the Coral C (or CRC). Other...

How about forming a Reg Force Kilted Regiment

Good points about them being commonwealth in the past. We could make ethnic regiments in the past that catered to a certain group because those people were joining the Infantry in droves anyway so it made sense. For those of you in the Reserves in a large city who think that is a...

    GPS - Trust / Don't Trust

The quote "2 is 1 and 1 is none" is I believe better attributed to one of the awesome instructors in GI Jane.

    ATVs

MCG, Yes I agree with you about the size and not the single-person ones.  That was me going back and forth trying to copy the images and remembering the photo numbers. You are absolutely right that anything we get should be able to seat more than 1. If I had to design the capability from...

Feds to announce home bases for new fighter jets

I know it does seem pretty silly to put them there, well within range of Mexican extended-range artillery.

    Problems and Bugs

Mike, yes the HVT issue looks fixed now because all of their data is populated again.  Now as for the -1,000 MilPoint balance I woke up with this morning, though...I guess that second Badger purchase will have to wait a lot longer.  ;D

    Problems and Bugs

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but once you cash in your Int to capture an HVT all of the status bars reset.  They still show up as "Captured", but all of the data on them disappears.  Then you build up the Int again and it will populate until you cash in your next set.

Halifax or Victoria? Who's Been to both?

Very jealous that those are your two choices.

    Soldiers squander disability payouts

Vern, Are you sure that he has to pay for his own things like a vehicle conversion out of that $250k? I'm not challenging everything you wrote, I just thought that it had already been pointed out that a soldier doesn't have to pay out-of-pocket for disability-related things like a ramp, car...

Close Combat Vehicle: Canada to buy another AFV (& keeping LAV III & TLAV)

There has not been one all-inclusive fully-articulated plan released yet. One issue is that the theoretical employment sees them employed somewhere between the LAVs and the Leopards, and in order to do that we need X hundred of them.  However, due to their cost we can only afford 1/3 X hundred...

First Medal of Honor for a Living Afghan War Vet

I actually thought about opening that sidebar but didn't want to get too far away from the point; everyone knows the hardships and the statistics that went along with the AirForce in WW2. The nature of air warfare rarely allows for a ground soldier-like occasion though, even if overall it was a...

    Remembering 9-11 (merged anniversary thread)

I am happy to see Obama and Harper both going public to condemn him though. I am sure there is an Info Ops campaign going on in theatre for how to mitigate it, possibly stating that we also condemn it and are just as offended.  Can't say for sure because I have been out of that chair for a...

    Soldiers squander disability payouts

Alien1, A lot of what you are now discussing has already been covered on this thread if you go back to the beginning. All the pros/cons about each system, and first hand accounts of those who have and are going through the process.

    BMOQ Sept 2010

I may be a Capt in the CF, but no need for "Sir" on this board as my opinion = that of anyone else.  Position is relevant on this board though, but that is more as a subject matter expert and doesn't involve rank. IE, a Cpl in the Sigs branch is absolutely okay to tell me I'm wrong if I say...

First Medal of Honor for a Living Afghan War Vet

Just a personal thing, but I don't think the word "win" should be associated with medals, particularly valour ones. You win on a scratch lottery ticket because it's chance.  You win a basketball game.  You can even "win" a gold medal at the olympics but IMO that's very different than earning a...

    ATVs

That is a very different capability than what I am talking about.  Once you get into a dunebuggy style instead of a side-by-side/ATV style you're talking about more of a Recce vehicle and getting away from the intent of helping take the load off the soldier's back. We must not take our eyes off...

First Medal of Honor for a Living Afghan War Vet

That is true, but two things have changed significantly: 1.  The medals are now fully Canadian; and 2.  Without a "front", soldiers (especially OMLT) are involved in combat more often (agreed not on a massive scale, though). My primary concern is that over time the standard required to earn a...

Close Area Suppression Weapon (was Company Area Suppression Weapon)

You're talking capability again though, not the specific tubes.  What I understood is that the specific systems we had were too old, not the capability itself.  It wasn't that we were divesting mortars so much as what we had was now dangerous to use. That being said, I do not know if a decision...
