    Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

Ha. Fair enough, but in this case, the 'industry' would be the level of government responsible for the administration of justice; i.e. the Sol-Gen and the Ontario Police College.

    Police Officers doing good things

What we're missing is the Crown's assessment of 'reasonable prospect of conviction', which is within its wheelhouse. There might be a bevy of witnesses and evidence, but if the Crown assessed that they would not stand up to scrutiny or challenge, or if there were obvious avenues of defence that...

    Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

At the community college level, not University, the 'fire technology' (or whatever they call it) courses in Ontario pumps out way more graduates that the professional fire services could ever hope to accommodate. In the early days of community colleges in Ontario, the 1960s and '70s, there was...

    Ontario Government (Conservative majority), 2025-29

This is just a government announcement of intention. No indication that a contract has been awarded (he said without checking the government website). This just for a bypass for the community of Geraldton (now part of Greenstone). The current route from Hwy 11 to Nakina runs through the...

Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

So . . . if not the RCMP, replacing the MP Branch with a new, separate federal policing service that is part of the DND but not the CAF? I'm confused. If yes the RCMP, it would entail opening a bunch of new detachments in Ontario and Quebec where they don't currently exist.

Eventually. The presser says connecting several segments of existing roads" and connecting Hwy 11 and Hwy 584. Hwy 584 runs from 11 to Nakina. I suspect this project will both upgrade 584 and bypass the Geraldton townsite (the connecting link currently runs right through town). Baby steps.

But, but, they don't subsidize their ag industry. It's all free market wonderfulness. It's only our socialist system that does things like that and why we need to make concessions.

I don't know about hospital but nursing homes, attendant care, etc. are heavily staffed by people from the Philippines and S/E Asia, but is that the TFW program? Not every foreigner on a work visa is a TFW.

"Lab-grown meat makers sue Texas over ban on cultivated protein"

Ha. What's that quip: two things that will probably survive a nuclear holocaust are Cockroaches and Hostess Twinkies. We will occasionally buy tortilla bread 'rounds' for wraps and things. They come in a pack and the ones we don't use will sit in the bread basket for months and all's they...

    Police Officers doing good things

I was really hoping to see a picture of the impounded vehicle on the back of a tow truck. Some tow operator now has a story to tell his kids and a yard will be making some easy impound fees income. Then again, the driver gets to explain to his daughter. 'You did what with my car?'

I don't know if this is a new group or one I just heard about. It's hard to keep up. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/second-sons-rally-in-niagara-1.7628162

The folks in Somerset could have fought to control the name, just like the French did with champagne and the Scots did with Scotch Whisky.

Self Defence in Canada (split from Gun Control 2.0)

I understand that there are rural property invasions, thefts, etc. but are they plagued with actual 'home' invasions? I suspect that using force to defend your dwelling house and the family within it will be looked on more favourably than using force to stop someone from stealing your tractor...

High Ranking Police Folk Allegedly Behaving Badly

For sure. I was trying to see if the cruiser in the background said 'traffic warden', 'parking control' or something (it can be hard to tell in many US jurisdictions) but it seems not. Even if they were 'across the line' in Nassau County, New Jersey or some place they didn't have jurisdiction...

High Ranking Police Folk Allegedly Behaving Badly

I'm not sure what "DEI" has to do with it but 'not my call', 'not my zone', 'FIDO' is nothing new. I'm not saying it's right, but it's nothing new.

Self Defence in Canada (split from Gun Control 2.0)

I suspect that since it has been rattling around since February, a Crown Brief has been assembled and forwarded to the Crown (local, regional or MAG in Toronto) and it is sitting there. Whether it is in a pile in an in-tray or being assessed for a carefully crafted response (one way or the...

As opposed to one raised in a feedlot. Unless you use a local butcher, how does the vast majority of the consumer market who shop in chain grocery stores know the provenance of their food? I'm with you BTW, but it's been a while since we've bought much more than ground and the odd roast (cheap...

They all could. My next door neighbour's Silverado 6.2 V8 just grenaded itself. He needs an new engine and thought it would be a fairly quick turnaround but they've got almost 3/4 million engines to deal with.
