MOZART: MOC to MOSID (Merged Topics)

I thought he was an excellent composer and particularly liked the Magic Flute.  If you mean the Military Occupational Structure Analysis, Redesign and Tailoring (MOSART) Project, there are mixed views. ;)

    Mess Dress

The trousers/overalls would be the same as your normal regimental pattern for full and mess dress.  The tunics are standard less highland regiments.  Unfortunately you would have to find an older dress reg that has your regt/corps in it.  From my research, viewing, etc. they were quite standard...

    Mess Dress

Yes there is.  However, women may wear the trousers/overalls, men's shirt and bow tie etc.  Usually each regiment has a standard for female mess dress, i.e. the style of the dress and jacket.  Try to find the regulation for your unit, if possible.

126th Anniversary of the Battle of Rorkes Drift - where Michael Caine won the VC

Gonville Bromhead was born in France.   Additionally he joined the British Army, I believe, in 1868 - and was in South Africa about one or two years before Rourke's Drift. Plus he was 33 when the battle was fought, hardly a twelve-year-old with a commission. ;)

    PERs : All issues questions...2003-2019

pbi Maybe some of the problem could stem from the fact that promotion or the recommendation thereof comes from some level bloody well next to Her Majesty.  What do you think if a Bde Comd had the authority to promote to Sgt or WO? Cheers Dave

126th Anniversary of the Battle of Rorkes Drift - where Michael Caine won the VC

I read somewhere on the net that CSgt Bourne was to be nominated for the VC but was commissioned instead.  Anyone know if this is true.  He did retire an officer. :salute:

    comission from the ranks

This is not correct, CFR's do not require a degree even after they become officers.  However, to be competitive and be promoted past Capt/Maj if you have enough time left, a degree would help.  The program for an NCM with a degree to get a commission is called SCP or Special Commissioning Plan.

    PERs : All issues questions...2003-2019

I feel that mentioning points for improvement on the PER is quite useless.  The PDR covers improvement points.  Unfortunately as pbi and others have alluded, the PER is not perfect and does need some improvement.  As for writing ability and PER's are concerned, I know some people that have sat...

    Redcoat dress uniforms

Engineers, Signals as well as many others wear black trousers/overalls with a scarlet   stripe (1", the thickness matters and these vary).   The original overalls were worn with both the mess dress jacket (not tunic) or the scarlet tunic (not jacket).   Cavalry stripes are yellow or special...

    Redcoat dress uniforms

The white helmet is a type of pith helmet used by the British army in the middle to late 19th century and was standard tropical/operational wear.  I am not sure what the one in the picture is called but the one used by the RCR and PPCLI is called a Wolseley helmet and is named after Garnet...
