Perhaps you are the one that has lost perspective. Your posts seem to equate urban planning with altruism. Urban planners take their direction from city managers, who take their direction from politicians. Hence, biases/agendas/visions invariably enter the fray.

It's the economy (spurred by demographics), at all levels, which (mostly) drive decisions, at all levels.

I'm leaning towards the economic market to sort things out. Government intervention rarely goes well.

Populism is currently associated with Conservatives. It wasn't always so. You have missed my point; to wit, people will go to extremes to gain/maintain power.

Meh. Liberals take action through legal and bureaucratic means, while conservatives take action through physical means. The ends, in both cases, are seldom justified, except for the radicals in both camps, who claim victory. A pox on politics, which currently exacerbates divisions.

We made a killing when we sold in Ottawa in 2022. I hope (selfishly) that the market corrects before we return.

Apropos, my youngest (6 years old) is currently on his third hamburger, (and fourth pasta helping) while we are on vacation in Croatia. His two eldest brothers consumed 7 burgers between them.( and pasta galore) I will never get rich.
