    Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

"Looking at the mediocrity of people in general, we're always more likely to get the latter than the former." This statement is true and telling. I am in the camp that good people exist, people who do try their best to push the peanut up the hill for the benefit of all. The problem that...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Agreed. The 'old' number of 88 airframes was agreed upon in the 'old world', pre-Trump and 'pre-2%, moving to 3.5%. I'm in the camp that when the numbers come out it will be north of 88.

LOL - are we the their Visigoth allies being asked to Rome shortly before we turn on them and sack Rome?

The Great Gun Control Debate- 2.0

True. 6-9 months time is a mere blip in governing a country or running a major corporation. The statement 'Rome was not built in a day' was true over 2,000yrs ago and is still true today. It is ALL about preparing the field, laying the ground work, building the foundation, etc, etc, etc. We...

The Great Gun Control Debate- 2.0

I'm leaning towards that is what they will do. I'm in the camp that more has been achieved in the last 6 months than has been achieved in the last 6yrs.

    A Deeply Fractured US

Not getting into the 'for' or 'against' argument here on the gun buyback - but - if i was advising the PM I would ensure that ever individual case of a firearm being bought back did NOT result in a financial loss to the owner, at a minimum this would be the entry point of the buyback. Why rub...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

Your guess is as good as mine. Sometimes these little things tell alot and sometimes they mean nothing at all. I mean was the last time Canada bought anything of substance from France? So, with that being said, was France being listed as an example only because the person writing the copy is...

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

The USAF has 24 planes in a F35A squadron I thought, do we follow suit or do we have less? Why the fixation with 88 airframes? That number was pre-Trump and based on all F35's. In todays world that number is going to move up I'd be willing to bet, especially if we go with a mixed fleet.

The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

I wonder if that was why France was listed, with the UK and Australia, in the new - Canada announces Defence Investment Agency to manage purchase, delivery of military equipment Agency mandated to work more closely with allies including U.K., Australia and France I would have thought Germany...

Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

Snippet below from the article: "says Australia would need to massively increase its defence spending or accept it can't defend its own sovereignty. "If you look at the mismatch between the scale of our territory and the scale of our ability to defend it — it's one of the most glaring...

Canada moves to 2% GDP end of FY25/26 - PMMC

What's the Australian business case for their 90 vs our business case for 26? Both very large land masses with massive coastlines. Both have no land borders with any potential enemies. So, why their 90 vs our 26? Is it simply down to Canadian shortcutting or is there really more to it.
