CAN-USA Tariff Strife (split from various pol threads)

I’m heavily leaning towards it doesn’t matter what we do; the most obvious reason is because Trump said it. It seems quite convenient that the primary effect of this will be a shift towards a consumption tax for the US population. Consumption taxes favour the wealthy. I still don’t understand...

CAN-USA Tariff Strife (split from various pol threads)

I hate to ask this, but… should the P-8 and F-35 contracts be put on hold? I actually think they are the best aircraft for the CF, but are they the best choice for Canada? Exactly how secure is our ability to access things like AEGIS at this time? On a more personal note, is looking at where...

U.S. Annexing Canada (split fm Liberal Minority thread)

I think there is a non-zero chance that the EU will en-masse pull out of NATO and immediately replace it with an EU military, followed swiftly by “asking” the US to leave and “nationalizing” their defence production. I’m not sure that the US administration understands the nuance that the...

AOR Replacement & the Joint Support Ship (Merged Threads)

It might not matter… it might make sense to structure all 12 Wing deployments for the conceivable future around single aircraft, two crew, 12 hour deck cycle. Especially since there are fewer dets available than ships that can embark them. Use the extra space for whatever. We already had the...

US Army divesting 8% of Blackhawk Fleet

Wonder how hard the airworthiness paperwork would be to replace the builders plate of an aircraft with one from a different type you’re retiring. It should be possible, aircraft have been completely rebuilt around the builders plate… Right!?!

American Airlines crash at Reagan international 29 Jan 2025

GtoG… I did hear the pauses, but thought maybe they’ll were just trying to figure out the picture and were delayed answering. It makes sense they were on UHF, which makes it even more yikes…

American Airlines crash at Reagan international 29 Jan 2025

I was just looking at the Helicopter Route Chart… routes 1, 4, and 6 all converge there, and there is a prohibited area just to the north.

American Airlines crash at Reagan international 29 Jan 2025

an airport in a built up area is common. Being right next to a low level VFR route not as much; New Yorks airports aren’t right on the VFR routes. Doing a dogleg visual line up right before the runway, above the same river the marks the VFR route is quite rare.

American Airlines crash at Reagan international 29 Jan 2025

There’s a history of keeping that airport open requiring balancing what should be IFR traffic approaches and departures, a lot of VFR traffic, including VIP, noise abatement, and political “needs.” Maybe they’ll get a better balance after this, but I doubt it.

    Trump administration 2024-2028

At least his timing is good: we had Star Wars / SDI in the 80s, Missilery Defence (a few interceptors in Alaska) in the 2000’s, and iron Dome in the 2020’s; so every 20 years. Now we know why every country needs to spend 5% of it’s GDP in NATO, because there’s a good chance that’s what it will...

American Airlines crash at Reagan international 29 Jan 2025

For those that are interested, VASAviation has Audio of MID-AIR CRASH into Potomac River | Regional Jet and Black Hawk Helicopter on YouTube. I think there is going to be a lot of interest as to why aircraft shoot the IFR to runway 01 and then a visual dogleg to 33. 33 seems to be used at night...

    Trump administration 2024-2028

So I'm not allowed to give my opinion the fact I have some expectation that our leaders show some leadership, but from a grainy video you not only: determined what caused the crash determined that everyone is thinking that way (except for a few of us misguided individuals, who think maybe it...

American Airlines crash at Reagan international 29 Jan 2025

It’s very easy to imagine how this could be nothing but a horrible accident before we “look for some bastardized to string up.” Crew got disoriented, it wasn’t clear to ATC which way would be safest to turn the 60, so the asked them to “see an avoid.” As aircraft was approaching from behind hard...

    Trump administration 2024-2028

So let me get this straight… he got a briefing from somebody, who would have said “the investigation is ongoing,” and then he impugned both the crew of the 60 and ATC. Pretty sure that goes against everything I learned about flight safety and investigations. … and he’s not supposed to say what...

Is Infantry a Waste of Time During Peacetime?

Which means we as a nation have a social contract to equip, pay, and train them as the specialists they are, if for no other reason to retain them, which we haven't done for many years. There are ways to convert your infantry experience, especially leadership, management, and organization, into...

Yet: -women on average make around 10% less than men for the same job LGBTQ teens are four times at risk for suicide, primarily due to societal pressures. In the US, one teen attempts suicide every 45 seconds how many women or minorities have been passed over because only a white, straight, man...

The vibe shift, end of "wokeness"?

I wonder why we are so wrapped around the axle about being told what to do by the nefarious WEF, or woke elites, or etc, etc; yet we seem to be perfectly happy to be constantly manipulated by GM, Ford, BMW, Nabisco, Microsoft, Amazon… Oh wait, I may have a thought… it’s almost like certain...
