    RCN Carrier models

I’m not sure exactly because I’m still working on what TTPs they used, but probably. Would it be possible to do a single cross section of the starboard side including the island, open on the port side? I wonder what scale it would need to be to put tiny lcds in each radar repeater and the state...

    RCN Carrier models

Talked to John as recently as last week about it. We don’t have space to do a full size version, and to be honest it probably would be too much. A VR experience might be appropriate, but not everybody wants to do that. A model would show the overall layout, but not necessarily what they were doing.

    RCN Carrier models

The curator and I spoke about it again today. We know that the first years of the Sea Kings employment cannot be described without showing what happened in those apaces on Bonnie, but we're not sure how to do it yet. I also need to find out what the state boards looked like, and which radar...

    RCN Carrier models

I was speaking to a well known Sea King pilot who flew off the Bonnie. I'm still not sure what was done in Ops and what was done in the Carrier ATC Center... However, he did confirm that very little of the positioning of the inner screen (ie the Sea Kings) was done by the helicopters...

Slowly getting there for the museum... I got a second montior to help with integration at home. I get to have my own Sea King Side Facing Console in my office at home :) Need to get the submarine intelligence done so I can track it. I also need a picture of the TACCO control...

My position "was" that it should be two AESOPs and two Pilot's. The fit I described was enough that the two AESOPs could have a mentor model and become sesnor experts, while the pilot's could concentrate on flying and tactical positioning with a metorhip model. The ship would be able to quite...

Intelligence (C5ISR) - Palantir sends AI-fueled TITAN prototype to Army

We’ve added another “C”… that should solve everything. In my experience, nobody ever had a common definition understanding of what C…I… meant anyway.

So, a hypothetic... It's 1993,the old ASN-501 is still in the aircraft, the CH-124B HELTAS is just coming online, we actually understood that the Persian Gulf wasn't a one off and that doing less ASW is a reality for the next 25 years, and we also understand there is less money for the next 10...

    CH-124 Sea King Historical Thread

The irony of how the tactical fit of the Sea King evolved is that even though a navigator was employed (the RN model), much of the capacity for command and control from that was eaten up by operating the equipment (which does not require an officer), so little capacity remained for command and...

    Replacing the Subs

I don’t think you are. There are lots of things that money would help right now. Recruiting and retention… pay more. Aging and one of fleets with lack of spares… pay someone to make them. Lack of instructors… pay to hire recent retires on contract to regen. Lack of operational readiness… spend...

There’s six at museum shop. I talked to the curator, Christine, and she’ll take orders over the phone. Since we’re closed it will have to her cell phone; pm me if you want her number. Here are pictures of all the books that are for sale:

So this got me thinking again... We have a timeline of when all the equipment came and went, including the "modification number" (they weren't all CF or CD mods). We also need to do description of all the equipment (in both English and French) for the interactive display project. When the...

I don’t have any pictures from United Aircraft but I can look in the archives. There was a full simulator for the Sea King, without visuals. All the sensors were simulated except the FLIR; HELTAS had a separate part task trainer. The sensor sims were ok for procedures, but I wouldn’t call the...

From my understanding, it’s also an issue in the Navy (ships subs with out enough crew, not enough spares, and outstanding work items) so that we have to have an all hands on deck to get each deployment out the door. Other fleets in the Air Force also seem to have different takes on the same...

It’s not flaws, per se, it’s force generation issues that have been discussed elsewhere in these forums. Edited to add: however I’m not part of the Wing or supporting orgs anymore so my knowledge is now second hand.

I should also point out that this thread is directly related to my retirement interests. My current avatar shows ASP on the left and a functioning mock up of an ASN-123 on the right.

How many does Ukraine have now? 3 from the UK and 6 from Germany? Think they would trade 9 Sea Kings for 28 S-92s? I wonder who bought up all the S-61Ns and Ts from the State Department after the whole Carson "thing?" I jest...
