    The C9A2 (pics)

That sounds about right to me.  Only a minor mistake in the way the info was presented.  Makes complete sense now.  The midlife upgrades for weapons are usually just add-ons, not complete mechanism changes.  No need to get all upset here everyone, it was just a simple misunderstanding.

    The C9A2 (pics)

Sorry Mortar Guy, If you knew the operation of the C9, you would know that even if there was a buffer inside of the C8 style collapsing butt, it would be of no use.   This buffer is made for the bolt in the C7/C8 weapons.   The C9 works entirely off a return spring which is contained completely...

    Packing a Ruck

We have a "Trooping of The Colours" coming up in Ottawa, and a change of command shortly after. The actual list probably weighs around 60+ lbs. Once you take out all the crap you don‘t need, and add the "operational" stuff, it‘s usually around 80 lbs!

    CADPAT

I for one am tired of all the CADPAT hype. Canada has gone off the deep end... Everything must be so "purely Canadian" that it‘s sickening. There is nothing special about CADPAT, it‘s all a gimmick, just a better technique to blend colours to look *ironically* less man made. If there is any...

    Packing a Ruck

wow, this was an old thread. I guess I should get around to taking some pictures. Most will probably be of my own ruck though. Since we‘re only doing light PT for the next couple weeks(lots of drill coming up!)

    The C7 Assault Rifle, M16, & AR15 family (C7A1, C7A2, C7 replacment, and C7 vs M16)

Yes, there are new radios. They‘re the army‘s answer for the FRS Motorola‘s. Called a PRR. Actually the name of the IR laser is AN/PEQ-4. The switch on the soldiers fore-grip is not for the laser however, it‘s for the Surefire flashlight that you would see at the end of his rifle if it was...

    Mountain Operations Course

AMO is an instructor course (MOI) your "troop" must be PLQ qualified or higher. No word on if we will be running a basic course this year yet. Normally there aren‘t any pers from outside BN course loaded, due to the fact that it is an infantry dominated skillset.

    Canadian Army Movies?

Peacekeepers was so GAY!! The only thing that was Canadian about it was the uniforms and equipment!

Why don‘t Infantry wear the RCIC badge?

In the Airborne Regiment it didn‘t matter what unit or what trade you were. Once you completed the AIC and got your coin and beret, you all wore the same thing. You still belonged to your parent regiment/trade, but when you were in the Airborne everyone wore the Airborne badge, slip-ons and...

    CFB Aldershot

I had some good tiles in Aldershot! The nightlife isn‘t too bad. JR‘s in New Minas, Legends on the west side of Kentville, the Anvil at the university(Acadia) in Wolfville. Good memories....

    Hooch vs. Bivy

The only action my ground sheet had seen is morning inspection. Heck, it still looks brand new! I‘ve used the same Bivi bag since 93‘ It‘s never leaked and I‘ve never had a problem with it. I carry a poncho in my ruck (it‘s lighter but does the same job) to cover my gear at night and maybe...

    Oakely Laser Lens

Oakley offers the best ballistic protection and visual acuity in the world. Yes, M-Frames will stop pellets from a shotgun blast. I‘m not positive of the distance or size of shot. I had the info but I used it in a pitch to the RSM to allow the troops to use M-frames in lieu of those crappy so...

Pay: Statements, Backpay, Benefits, Deductions (Taxes, T4), Deployed ect... [MERGED]

Sorry Mike, a little venting! This is what I meant was crap: Sure their job isn‘t easy, but neither is mine. I wouldn‘t expect them to be able to fill my shoes either. But I can tell you that I‘ve had to make quick decisions on the spot that affected the lives of my friends and myself...

Pay: Statements, Backpay, Benefits, Deductions (Taxes, T4), Deployed ect... [MERGED]

Come on Armymedic! SFOR is past being an exceptionally dangerous operation. However, that being said, I completely agree with Ex-Dragoon. It should be all or none. Besides, it‘s just another little piddley offering to take the publics eye off the main issues anyway. While the public is...

    Sec 2i/c crse - QL5 - questions

For the Infantry (regs), the course is taken after the PLQ and just expands on Infantry leadership. Particularly in leading patrol and section attacks. Basically, they broke up the old ISCC into two parts, I guess like the JLC & JNCO courses. The course is three weeks long and at the moment is...

    FATS

I‘m a system operator, and it‘s not too bad. It could be so much better though. So many times when creating my own ranges and scenarios, I wished I had the password to add some of my own targets... All of the "C7‘s" are the bushmasters. They are a real rifle, just modified to operate with the...

Healthy body, dumb luck spared Canadian wounded in suicide strike

Not that I‘m trying to slam Jay or anything like that, reporters tend to make stories sound a little more then what they are, although Steve Thorne is a stand up guy. We all wished we could/had of done more that day...
