Be interesting to see who's fleet carries that oil from over seas.
That oil is a blend of all the ME including the countries on the banned list.
Makes things even more interesting
the problem with that is Trump will say he subsidized the purchase and we owe him all our resources in trade.
Those two ABCT standing down, are they being reorganized or completely stood down?
In all seriousness if the equipment is up for sale it might not be a bad deal if the price is right...
Of course there are always updates and such.
To say an aircraft can do this and it cant, then add a few billion there and few billion there to make it work is simply smart business on part of the manufacturing group, not desirable to the purchaser.
The aircraft was suppose to be built to...
One has to look at the actual costs or the cost plus of the program. Money diverted here and there for other aspects not spoken to in the process.
if your telling me $10B for a upgrade block that was already suppose to be designed I would say someone is making money with little to any...
Did all that money go specifically to the F35? was it part of a larger project?
Never said R&D isnt cheap, time is money and money is time.
Developing your own Aerospace program is money well spent across the board.
Simple Canadian Designed means
A plan is proposed.
A Canadian Aerospace Engineering firm draws up a plan, proposes it and if it looks good we move on to the next step.
Then they approach a Canadian Aerospace Manufacture and asks can you build this. They look at it and go yup.
The three...
they also do not have a lot of resources.
Each one of those Countries could have designed and developed their own aircraft. They choose to share R&D amongst themselves to get the best of various worlds. But they both went their own (France and UK) own ways. But share lots of information and...
Security side is going to be an interesting all to itself.
Alert would be a great staging area, more then likely not going to operate a F35 out of there, but one never knows.
Initial cost might be high. But over time it might fit the bill for a dual role platform.
The F35 can not operate from smaller runways. Where the Gripen can.
That may not be a bad idea, that would add another host of issues. But maybe worth the headache
ok
Yup, still wont be enough to fully operate those aircraft north
The aircraft procurement for Gripen may be dead as of now. But or the project might rear it's head in the near future. Time will tell as things move along with our Defense spending.
It is suppose to be a decent aircraft to fly. What makes a optimized trainer over a non optimized trainer?
Would not be our main fighter, Would make a great Northern based aircraft for QRF duties. Can be run on less then ideal runways.
One can not simply get away from ITAR, The US defense...
Depends on how one looks at the success of industries. Lots of places out west that could fit the bill. Central Canada has lots of support to offer, in terms of manufacturing and labor force. It would be a roll the dice and throw the contract out to see who wants the work.
Alberta is busy with...
Production and Assembly.
We have the skill sets here in the Country already. Provide expertise around the world with our current partners. It would not take much if any thing at all for us to ramp up the process and put it all together.
Those systems can be added later on as proven by all the updates from the A4-A7 models.
Base tank would be a good start for many countries. All the addons can be somewhat limiting especially if the tanks are going to be used for training only and or in storage.
As the Ukrainians can attest...
Serious question, would the Griphen make a good lead in fighter trainer aircraft for Canada? then we could possibly get a good deal with our friends over seas, have a fairly capable aircraft with dual role.
Then look at the Eurofighter/ Rafale as our main fighter Aircraft and align ourselves...
