    Engineering Experiences in Afghanistan

Good post boondocksaint!  I think you summed up pretty well what life is like for a Sapper right now in Afghanistan.  Anyone else have recent experience of Engineers doing their 'thang in KAF (inside or outside the wire)? S6

    Engineering Experiences in Afghanistan

All, I want to keep this thread pure as I think it is a good one.  However, I can't help myself when I know that conclusions may be forthcoming on the Cbt Engrs v.s. Pioneer debate....again.  Respecting that there is another thread on this already, I draw you to the subtleties of "engrs acting...

Airborne Engineers & Combat Engineer Parachutists

ChrisR, I agree with cdnaviator, but the answer is relative.  In other words, we still try to maintain the "capability" of military parachuting but we no longer maintain a purely "airborne" role in the Army anymore.  For economy of effort, expertise is maintained through the designation of the...

    Looking for Mark Blencowe

Kat, Haven't seen Mark since 2004.  Last I heard he was still living in Morinville.  I would imagine that RSM Hartford at CMTC Wx would know how to get a hold of him. Bubbles up! S6

    did anyone now RICK HUGGATT??

I worked with Rick Huggatt in the mid 90s while posted in Edmonton together.  He has since retired and last I heard was still living in Edmonton.  I ran in to him, by chance in the summer of 2004. S6

EOD Babe; US or UK? (Split from EOD thread)

Yup, she would need at least 40 lbs of lead on her belt in fresh water and at least 48 lbs in salt water to get neutral bouyancy!  S6

    All Things Combat Diver (merged)

Diverchick, You raise some good points.  I also think most of the combat divers agree with you, it's just a matter of convincing the grown-ups that divers are combat multipliers and need to be trained as such.  I think of it this way.... 6 months ago the Leo I MBT was on its way out of the CF...

    Cpl. Jeffrey Bailey

Audra, Thanks for the update on Jeff.  From my perspective, it sounds like he is doing very well, particularly when you consider those "dark first days in Germany".  Much appreciated.  Chimo! S6

Rest in Peace Sgt Stachnik.  Although I didn't serve with you, you were a sapper and that is all it takes to have my respect. + S6.

    Cpl. Jeffrey Bailey

Heh Perogiee, First of all welcome to the Army.ca board!  Secondly, thanks for providing a quick SITREP on Cpl Jeff Bailey. Is it possible for you to update us with more detail on how he is doing?  I used to work in 1 CER and am interested in following up.  Besides, there are others on this...

Little jim, Oh there is love there.  Especially, special love for my 3VP friends who I got to share a lovely 6 months in Afghanistan on Op APOLLO!  So, strange is not the word.  Special is closer to the mark.  ;) S6

Joe, 392 took the words out of my mouth!  By the way, good effort 392 for taking the time (once again) to put your thoughts down on paper (electrons perhaps) and succinctly summarize all that is ailing the Combat Divers in 2006. I think you speak for the silent majority.  Joe take note. I will...

Gully, Yup, I checked my sources and you are correct.  This fella is a Clr Dvr Offr who is "trying" to load himself on some high speed Army courses in order to better "prepare" himself for duties with SCTF.  Word on the street is that the Navy Brass are not too supportive.  However, stranger...
